Exactly correct, he’s a zookeeper not a DJ. And 40 years of the same schtick is so far past boring it’s amazing anyone needs to tune in. Same bits, same songs when he plays music at all and a bunch of hack comics promoting gigs to maybe 7 people who care.
Music? It was always Michael Tierson and he’s on the internet now so no need for the morning stew.

Sure, I guess so but man, that guy is/was annoying.

I saw him in person once- in a bar in Philly, late 80s. The place was crowded and he decided that best way for him to get from Point A to Point B was to simply shove everyone out of his way, scowling all the time. Total jerk.

I didn’t want to get personal about it but since you opened the door, I’ve never met the guy but I’ve never heard a good word about him.

He dubbed me this after playing a joke song my band made about man eating sharks riffing off “ I want Candy”. I was 17 and it was just huge to me.😎

Ha, Thats a fun story. I always liked him. You should post that song to the sub!

I’m afraid that has long been lost in the tangles of cheap cassette tapes. Sure wish I had it though.

Good for him, love his show in the morning
Always seemed like a decent bloke, he does a ton of charity stuff. My kid went up to chat to him at a public event and he spent a solid 5 minutes chatting to him about the Beatles and classic rock

There are two specific professions that can catapult people into celebrity despite 98% of them being dicks:
DJs and poker players.

Now I miss Mark the Shark, RIP.
My older brother listened to DeBella religiously on MMR, and I remember him because he did interstitial segments on Ch. 29 between cartoons. I do remember listening to the Zoo and Mark talking about how he defrosted his windows with hot water, while DeBella listened incredulously.
Then one day, he didn't make it in because he shattered his windshield. I don't know why that has stuck with me since, what, 1987?

An absolute legend as an on-air personality, but I don''t think of his in connection with music nearly as much as I do with some of his contemporaries like Pierre Robert.
But wow, the Morning Wars of the 1980s-early 1990s were fun.
