Yes the pollen is bad right now. The first year I moved here was very bad for my allergies. I went to urgent care after a week of suffering because I didn't think there was any way it was just allergies. It was. If you're not on a daily allergy pill that is where I would start. There is always Benadryl if it's real bad and you are ok to be sleepy. They also make a lotion that might help with your skin, but you have to treat this from the inside. I also use Flonase in the spring for my constantly runny nose. Hope you get some relief soon.

Maybe the chemicals got into the water after all.

Thank you! Do you have any particular recommendations for non-drowsy antihistamines? Currently in school and final exams are approaching, so I would very much love to be at 100% without any drowsy spells making my circumstances worse :(

OP prob allergies, but idk why the downvotes, itchiness was one of the things to look out for given what leaked. Not crazy. sometimes local institutions give a thumbs up, but citizens start to report issues with whatever, and some reevaluation is called for. it happens.

i too was wondering if anyone anecdotally has had issues with water.

Claritin is non-drowsy. Avoid Zyrtec, it's in the same family as benadryl and can have the same effect for some people.

I take a generic version of xyzal before bed every night and use the Flonase in the morning during peak allergies in the spring and fall.

I take mine at night because I found that even the stuff labeled 'non drowsy' still made me drowsy. So I opted to take a regular pill and go to bed.

I use generic Allegra and it works really well for me.

I have the itch too - it's the humidity/dew point (for me, anyway). They've both been really low the last couple days so my skin gets super dry and itchy if everything isn't properly lotioned.

Try lotion before you spend money on the meds. If you're like me that will take care of it.

It’s worked wonders for her skin, and of course take your allergy medicine.

Zyrtec for itch, and you can ramp up to 4 per day as needed, per my dermatologist.

And only really boring plain gentle skin care like Dove bar soap and Cerave or Cetaphil moisturizer.

i never got any allergies in north jersey having grown up there, but i do get irritated in philly. the first year was probably the worst- so i'm guessing it is just your body dealing with new "threats". good luck!

Absolutely. My allergies to whatever's around here (probably pears bc a shit ton bloom at once) make my skin itchy and blotchy every spring. I personally don't have as many respiratory issues compared to that

I agree with the other folks mentioning Claritin/generic Claritin. I also wear my mask while waiting for the bus - helps considerably with pollen blowing down the street. Obviously depends on your allergies and activities. If you wear contacts and have glasses, switch to glasses if you can while the meds kick in. Good luck!
