Where can I get some good pies for the holiday at this late hour? On family pie duty and I completely procrastinated, and before I attempt a Hail Mary and make my own, I wanted to see if anyone had any recs for places that are still taking orders. Can go anywhere in the city or nearby.

Thanks!

EDIT: Pies obtained this morning. Beiler's has a smooth operation set up right outside the entrance to RTM. Seemed to have tons of stuff if you're still looking, but probably will not last long!

A number of places at Reading Terminal Market have varieties of good pies. Beilers being just one of them .

Do you need to order days in advance though? Or can I just swing by tomorrow and grab some? Thanks!

They usually have them ready to buy on site. Given there’s probably many being sold; suggest getting there today.

Costco sells really big pumpkin pies for $5.99. They have others as well, but I’m partial to pumpkin.

Don't buy the Costco pumpkin pie. They are cheap and big but you can easily make a better one with the recipe on cans of pumpkin and a Pillsbury crust

Yeah but the Costco one doesn’t waste my time lol

They do apple and pecan pies in that giant size too. I’ve never had them but they’re fun to gawk at when I push my cart by them.

Mighty Bread Company just posted on IG that they still have pies.

FWIW pumpkin pie is super easy to make and pilsbury crust tastes pretty damn good.

Pie crust is super easy to make and homemade is infinitely better than Pillsbury.

Not saying home made isn't better, but if you're in a pinch and/or a novice cook/baker there's nothing wrong with using the pre-fab variety.

Just buy some pie crusts or make them - it's like the easiest thing to bake ever. Fill them with whatever you feel like. Pies are like the easiest of desserts to be left in charge of.

They may be easy, but I am stupid! I'm at the point where I am posting on Reddit for help---can't get much lower. Do you have a recipe?

Very good advice but personally I use 1/2 cup sugar in the pie filling. 1/8 tsp salt can be added too but opinions vary greatly with that one.

I like to toss in a handful or two of whole cranberries. Helps cut the sweetness and adds another dimension.

These are rumored to be Mrs. Fields pies in a Linvilla box….

Not even rumored. They just are.

Ha I don’t have proof, but I’ve heard it for a long time.

Haven’t been to Linvilla in a long long time. It’s a crowded shitshow.

Stocks is great but you have to get in line super early, as it usually wraps around the block. You can also go mid day where lines aren’t as long but things tend to sellout

This is a bit off topic but if anyone ever travels to Vermont, the Vermont Country Deli in Brattleboro has the best pies I have ever tasted in my life.

Just make a butter crust, or purchase a premade one. Roll/press into a 9-inch pie dish. Thinly slice 6 apples, 3/4 cup sugar(do 50-50 white and brown), 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/2 tsp nutmeg. 2 tbsp butter. mix all ingredients, toss into the crust. Cover with top crust, and make sure to add some vents, or make a lattice with the top crust.

Bake at 350 for 35-40, or until apple filling is bubbly, and crust is golden brown. Set aside, let cool, and serve warm with a scoop of your favorite vanilla or maple ice cream.

(takes all but an hour)
