Seriously, how could you have sick brain dead planning on what is probably the busiest week of the year on this road?

Typical. Having to use the budget before the end of the year is usually a good excuse. In this sort of case, however, the work should have been done at night. This state/county prioritizes the contractor over the taxpayers WAY too often.
Forcing our state legislature to properly fund the roads is ultimately the solution to this sort of issue. Unfortunately, the uniformity clause in PA’s constitution makes this extremely difficult without ridiculous measures like the bridge tolls or 8¢ Mileage tax that have been floated recently.
You'd rather they work at rush hour?
How about at night? Or how about not one of the busiest weeks of the year on that road?
Lol I’m amazed by how many people are defending this and assuming there is no other way.
I'm amazed that people drive past a construction site for 15 seconds and fancy themselves experts on it
I’m amazed at the way you love me all the time
McKnightmare Stroad is a death trap
And we all hate working night shifts. Especially when you only have to do 2-3 nights during the week and the rest are day shifts.
Also, we can only work when PenDot allows us to close a lane or have a rolling stop.
Can't please people. Either roads and bridges are all broken and need fixing, or how dare they close the road to fix them when its inconvenient for me.
Do they have you on retainer or something? I wouldn’t comment if I didn’t have knowledge of the process.
🎵Maybe I’m afraid of the way I leave you 🎵
Also on Rt 19/Washington Rd. next to South Hills Village. One lane in each direction closed. Great idea!
I mean, not literally though
How is the access to Arby's?
I have no problem with closing lanes to fix then. I think next week makes way more sense after Christmas
Try the 910/79/Brandt School Road intersection anytime of year and without construction if you really want to be annoyed.
I just drive to warrendale
Asking the real questions, here
The north hills are suburban hell to me
Its tough viewing other people's neighborhoods in a negative light, please stay hydrated
Bigelow also has one lane closed every day this week.
Most of downtown is tore up.
Make it make sense
They do night construction frequently in Canada. Back in March I spent some time in the Markham area of Toronto. Every road was amazingly smooth and well maintained.
Isn’t this the road that always floods when it storms ?
They do this in the south hills….right near the damned mall and it kills me.
On both sides! I knew my errands weren't going to be "quick" but that was insane. Down to one lane?!!?
Really? Because I find that it comes naturally to me
I grew up in north Texas and my whole neighborhood only had five repeating models of house, no trees, and every lawn looked exactly the same. Compared to that, I consider the suburbs north of Pittsburgh to be absolutely beautiful haha
I agree. Lived here my whole life, everything is a chain.
The main upside vs the south hills is getting around is significantly easier. McKnight sucks but it sure as hell isn’t as bad as 51, and I have plenty of alternatives
Where at? Coworker told me there was a water main break up by Cumberland road early yesterday morning.
Why would they bother to find that out? It would reduce their ability to bitch and moan on Reddit!
And next week they’ll be on to a different project that requires closing a road you’ll complain about.
Maybe you wouldn’t, but the rest of Reddit makes it their primary hobby!
The traffic lights make it even worse. They run the same full stupid pattern ALL NIGHT LONG even when there is no traffic on the crossroads.
McKnight is not really a big deal most of the time nowadays. The lights are pretty well coordinated.
Cranberry, OTOH, is a hot mess. I don't understand how that area functions. Just gridlocked all times of the day, especially around 19/228.
All roads lead to Arby's
That’s my point. The traffic lights are not timed correctly. It’s insanity.
RIGHT ON RED OFF RAMP PEOPLE. ;)
Yes-- my wife fantasizes about having a traffic circle there instead (the Brandt School Rd side) and I keep telling her that's great and all, but only if I can set up a webcam to monetize the confusion and crashes. But seriously, anything gotta be better. PennDOT supposedly will revise the interchange in the next few years but I really can't imagine they are capable of making anything better.
Gosh cars really make people mad
You aren't wrong lol
It's not that bad at night to have one lane of Bigelow closed, the biggest issue is that they closed it at 6:00 p.m. last night. That traffic was horrific.
Suburban towns near Pittsburgh are not Toronto
Proving it can be done along with having well maintained roads in places that also have winter.

Gotta use that budget I guess , sucks
