Hello! My husband and I (31 and 39) are visiting next weekend for the first time Saturday through Sunday and looking for recs on places to see/visit and where is the best place for bar/lounge hopping on a Sat night out!

Hoping to find a hotel near the bars/restaurants where we can walk to places Sat night but not a big deal if that’s impossible.

Thanks!

Penn Ave Corridor downtown is great for bars and lounges. Con Alma is can't miss.

You can stay at the Sheraton at station square and bar hop and eat out on the river. Also. You could take incline up to Mt Washington. Check to make sure with the hotel the incline is running since one of them was being fixed. You may need to get an Uber or see if hotel would drop you off at incline up the road. At Mt Washington you'll get a great view of the city and the rivers. The dream night includes fine dining in Mt Washington. This is a safe area too. Southside has a bunch of restaurants and bars off Carson Street, but it has become an unsafe area and violence has become a problem with police presence. I'd suggest ignoring the southside and have safe fun with less worries. Also, you could take a ride on the Gateway Clipper on dinner dance cruise to enjoy the river. The boat is next to the hotel. This is also safe fun. The food served will be like hotel food, but it's pretty good. I love going on boat cruises and maybe get a deal at hotel. Also. I'm not sure if it's still called the Sheraton Hotel. Hope you enjoy yourself in the burgh. Get a Primanti's sandwich steak and cheese on Southside in the day or market district downtown. You'll love it! ❤️

For me, Maggie’s farm and Hidden Harbor cannot be overlooked while you’re here. Probably the best rum distillery in a few hundred miles, and HH is the best cocktail bar.

Agree with the person that said Penn Avenue! I also HIGHLY recommend Pusadee’s Garden in Lawrenceville. Not as close to the other bars in Lawrenceville but the best Thai food and a romantic evening for sure.

Seconding Spork. Their food is a little on the pricier side, so depends on your budget, bud if was definitely worth the dining experience IMO. Also, Phipps Conservatory orchid installation/exhibit started this coming weekend. Phipps does not disappoint but you should purchase advance admission tickets, which you can do on their website.

I'd highly suggest making the Lawrenceville neighborhood your base. There's a Tryp Hotel there and probably some Air BnBs. Walkable neighborhood with TONS of restaurants, bars, bakeries, coffee shops, breweries, etc., etc. LOTS to do, very walkable. Skews older. Definitely a hipster neighborhood, but again it's a great base and you can walk to all these things.

Go to Phipps. It'll be their Orchid and Bonsai show, which is fantastic. You can couple it with some outdoor ice skating in Schenley Park (tip: they have an adult only skate Friday and Saturday nights). Lots of fun. Millvale has a great record store in the Attic, if that's your thing. Millvale also has a couple breweries and really cool little haunt in the Whisper Nest.
