The video doesn't load, but animal in the photo looks like a mink. A mink fiddling around with a garter snake that was run over.
Everyone says that fishers make a screaming noise, but whenever I've laid eys on a fisher in the woods, it's been quiet. Foxes on the other hand make a screaming sound. We had one that denned up in the back of our property in past years, and I've seen it making that racket a number of times.

I’m not an expert but I’m pretty sure that’s a mink. There are a few who live along the water.

It’s a mink. Fisher cats are 2 1/2 times that size.

I think pet cats belong inside anyway.

It's really annoying how many outdoor cats there are around while I'm walking my dog. I feel like I have to be on constant lookout for them.

They sound like a woman screaming bloody murder for help. It's terrifying.

If there is a river nearby, it is almost certainly a mink. Fishers are much larger and have a lighter brown colored head compared to the rest of their body.

This is a mink, as others have said.

That's interesting, I feel like that's one of the things that providence does much better than other places I've lived.

I've never lived someplace outdoor cats were legal before! There are tons in my neighborhood (on the East Side).

yeah, they do....how- I don't know...but they do

More often than not it is a fox or coyote making that sound. Another sound is like a baby crying, often fox or coyote as well.

The animal I saw was much larger than this. I actually have seen minks; I posted about that here during the summer.
Dunno why the link doesn't work. I used it because it was a RI sub link. I'll see if I can find the original link to the post; it had a good discussion about local fishers.
Males are much larger than females. The one I saw was a male because it was at least 3.5 feet long, including the tail.

They absolutely do.

I agree, but cool to see a mink too.

They have an incredible few rescues that trap and neuter/spay. That helps keep the population down!

Second morning in a row, I've seen a fisher (aka fisher cat) at about 5am around George and Hope Streets.
A lot larger than this one posted on the RI sub last year, which was a baby. This one was bigger, a male. Feb & Mar are breeding season.
Keep your cats and toy-breed dogs in if you live in that neighborhood.
