Any commentary on the quality of the Nutcracker Ballet in Providence in December? I’d really like to go, but tickets are expensive. Tickets are cheaper for the show in Boston which I found surprising, but would also have to factor in gas and parking. In Providence is the view okay from balcony seats? Or is the price increase to sit at mezzanine level worth it? Thank you for any commentary!

PVD and Boston are both good, not great (as someone who lived in NYC…). Boston is good, but maybe not as good as you may expect from a city like Boston. There isn’t a huge talent gap between Bos and PVD.

The big difference is Boston has a live orchestra, PVD does not.

Wow, that’s shocking that Providence doesn’t have a live orchestra and is still so expensive! Definitely good to know.

Boston is def more of an event and worth it esp if you are bringing kids. You can take the t tho? If you didn’t want to park downtown?
Kinda shocked Boston is cheaper but maybe it’s early enough in the run? I think the time commitment is probably more of a factor than gas money.

Pvd runs for a week. Boston for a month. That’s your price difference.

Hands down Boston. Agree with poster above that Boston isn’t necessarily the caliber you’d expect with the rep they have, but in comparison to Festival Ballet here in Providence, there isn’t really a comparison when it comes to talent and quality of the production. Plus Boston has a live orchestra, which is what would sell me. Professional ballet done to canned music is pathetic imo.

Definitely was an immediately sell for me too! My guest is a musician too so I don’t think I could ring him in if it was pre-recorded music haha
