See, people keep thinking of all the positive amazing things. What terrifies me, is what happens when you can't distinguish reality from AI generated scenes in the future? When it becomes so perfect it isn't even uncanny, just indistinguishable from real life? What happens when you can create AI of people doing whatever you want and pass it off as real? I'm sure corporations already own your likeness, will be able to use them however they want without consent due to copyright loopholes. Now imagine passing off the wrong person and having them create evidence against you that the average person would have no real idea was just the most advanced deep fake on the market and all they had to do was type up a story for their ai to digitize? Government propaganda will fit whatever the most aggressive and underhanded party wants. And we're already dealing with shady politicians in office. Imagine if Trump had access to a perfected deep fake?! It's scary as hell.

I think of that alot too, imagine someone creates the most disturbing image possible and somehow spoofs the sharing system of an ar headset, displaying it in fullscreen covering your entire field of view

I don't think he was taking credit for anything when he said that. At least, I don't believe he actually claimed to be doing so. As I said, it's a longstanding theory that he was quoting.

I don't like Musk as much as the next guy, but to go as far as to say he was attempting to coin the theory is a bit of a stretch.
