I’m a musician and screenwriter. I use Midjourney for personal concept art/mood boards. I also offer my other filmmaker friends mock-ups of their concepts which I can do in like five seconds using Midjourney.

Atm, I’m experimenting with running my script outlines through ChatGPT and asking for feedback as well as thematic analysis and suggestions. I don’t particularly enjoy having it do the writing or general plotting for me, but it certainly looks like a powerful tool to help me get out of writer’s block

I'm a software engineer and game developer and I'm pretty much using ChatGPT as a replacement for stack overflow. It is a great tool to use whenever I'm stuck on something or have a quick question about syntax I can't remember.

It's definitely way faster and more accurate than searching my question on Google. Occasionally it will give me the wrong answer, but I'd say for the types of questions I ask, it has around a 90% accuracy rate.

And what's really cool is if I'm working on a hard problem, I can update ChatGPT with the status of my attempts to debug it and new problems I've run into and it will remember everything I've said previously and take that into account when answering my new but related questions. Super cool.

Feels more like a brainstorming partner than just a question-answerer.

I'm a software engineer and I think AI tools could definitely help me in my role. For example, I could use ChatGPT to automate customer support and Midjourney for data analysis. These tools could help reduce the amount of time I spend on mundane tasks and allow me to focus more on developing innovative solutions. It would be great if the community can come up with more ideas on how AI can be used to help me become more successful in my role.

Frontend developer and ChatGTP has been a great tool to have on hand. It's really good for bouncing ideas off of and asking common questions that would otherwise require me to huntdown a good stackoverflow thread or medium article. I would be willing to pay for api requests after the free trial is over.

This has been my experience as well. It's like having my own personal senior dev with occasional schizophrenic episodes.

I asked ChatGPT for a game idea the other day. It replied with several ideas and I iterated through “I like the genre, can we change the theme”. It eventually landed on something I liked “awesome. Can you give me a color scheme in hex values”. Returned the list. “Awesome. What materials should I use?” Returned a list. “Can you explain how I might start on building the mechanics”. It gave a decent idea, but all in all I knew where I was going to start anyway. “What could I sell in the game?” Returned with some ideas. “What multiplayer features could I add”. Returned with ideas.

TLDR: ChatGPT did an entire weeks worth of brainstorming and game design preplanning in about 10 minutes.

I write blogs, b2b and other shiz, and I use ai to generate outlines, find keywords, etc. sometimes the ai puts out real content I can just pass on to clients with a little editing, but that’s rare and generally for lower value work. Still, I can take on more work using ai without a drop in quality.

How are you able to use mid journey for data analysis? If you don’t mind me asking.

Sometimes if I keep going back and forth with it over code that isn't working it will start to have an attitude, saying things like "Like I said", and then when that starts happening, the next time I say anything I get an error from OpenAI and have to reset the thread lmao.

I've just finished making changes to a client Microsoft 365 environment. I've had some issues during the process because it's a hybrid environment.

chatGPT was able to tell me what is the proper command to use in order to achieve my goal and then wrote a quick PowerShell script to do it.

GPT is a very good general purpose language model. It can answer questions about almost any topic. However, my AI model is trained on a specific niche topic, which allows it to perform data analysis.

I am using a modified version of GPT that has been trained on different datasets.

AI paranoia is a very real thing! I totally understand where you are coming from.

However, this may be comforting: AI models are very good at answering questions, but they are not so good at having conversations! AI models cannot "think" on their own - they just analyze input data and spit out answers.

This means that you can always "tell" when you are talking to an AI model. They always give short, direct answers - and they never ask any questions!

I'm a pilot so these tools only help automate away my job by way of potentially assisting engineers and developers improve aircraft autopilot and autoland systems.

They don't help me be more successful in my job itself. That said, though, my particular niche of piloting is unlikely to be automated with the typical autopilot or autoland systems. It's more likely that my type of flying is replaced by some kind of autonomous short-ish range drones than directly being automated in its current form.

That said, I am studying web development and creating web apps in my spare time, so they help me come up with ideas or assist me when I'm stuck on a problem, as others in this thread have stated already.

Documentary Filmmaker here, in regards to screenwriting, have you had any success using AI for tasks such as transcript selection (provide the AI your story arc, characters and their associated roles, then let it identify the best talking points from each?)

Also curious how far off we are from AI being able to perform busy editing tasks like cutting b-roll, coloring footage, correcting audio, etc….would love more info.

I own a production house and these are all areas we tend to get bottlenecked. Would love to see what solutions are available already and what’s coming next in this area.

Have only just started getting really into the GPT3 stuff with the recent advent of ChatGPT, but I'm finding it can do some absolutely incredible things. Haven't had super major breakthroughs yet, but I have had some interesting moments where it's given me really useful suggestions.

In terms of editing, I was looking at Runway, the AI-integrated Video Editor, and it looks exceptionally promising, so I would advise you take a deeper look into that.
