What is crazy us that if they just followed the person in front of them, they would have been fine. They saw everyone going the correct path and yet went against it.

How wild, everyone else is driving the wrong way!

It's a love/hate feeling for me when I recognize springfield on r/IdiotsInCars, cops, livepd, etc.

Saw this once on the S National diamond. Some lady from Wisconsin lmao

I think it’s because the “turns” in the Chestnut diamond are not a tight as they are on the others. You get put in your lane on the other diamonds, but this one is pretty swoopy.

I had never encountered a diverging Diamond before visiting Springfield the first time. I was white-knuckling it the whole way through but at least decided to just follow the guy in front of me.

The secret shortcut. Traffic engineers hate him!

Is there something in the air around 65 that makes people lose brain cells? This diamond and the Battlefield exit are where the idiots come out in full swing.
Edit: Typo

I don’t understand how people struggle with these so much. 😭 follow the lines on the road!

Ditto.
Crossing the center is something we spend our entire lives knowing is anathema, and then they ask us to do it. It's just wrong, on a conceptual level no matter how efficient it is.

We really need to get something positive trending for this town. I see chestnut on r/idiotsincars atleast once a month, not to mention a plethora of other dumb things we keep ending up in the news about.

There must be. I could keep r/IdiotsInCars alive just with clips from my 2+ trips on 65 per day.

Before they put up the little flexible barriers, people would come to a complete stop at the turn on to 65SB from Chestnut and would back up traffic for MILES. Still happens from time to time but not as frequently.
Also glad I don’t have to make that drive anymore.

Westbound Chucklenuts Expressway has people leaving Menards and Costco full of hardware and groceries, while Eastbound Chucklenuts is full of people leaving work. Nobody is ever in their right mind there. And that's on top of whatever they put in the water to make Springfield drivers.

Man I don’t know what it is about the fucking chestnut diamond that makes people drive like they have the SpongeBob orb of confusion turned on. I’ve had people almost hit me several times, all while the original one at the mouth of 13 on Kansas doesn’t have any perceivable issues like that. Glad you’re safe!
