Two shows that come to mind are The Recruit and the new Witcher spin off series. I've watched three episodes of the recruit couldn't get past it. I felt like it was some team drama show from CWB and I'm getting the same vibes for the Witcher and I just started that. The lighting they use, dialogue, and actions scenes
The Recruit is not Netflix’s attempt at a CW show, it is their attempt at an ABC show. It is why they got Alexi Hawley (Castle and The Rookie) to make it. Same as The Lincoln Lawyer was their attempt at an NBC or CBS show.
The go prestige cable with stuff like The Crown, 1899, Dahmer, The Watcher, Midnight Mass, Vikings Valhalla, The Sandman, etc.
They definitely go for the younger demo as well and do it pretty successfully with shows like Wednesday, Stranger Things, Outer Banks, Shadow & Bone, Ginny & Georgia, and Never Have I Ever.
If they have a recent flaw it is a lack of new ongoing non genre prestige dramas to replace The Crown and Ozark.
Wednesday certainly had some CWB stuff in there, for better or for worse.
The creators of Wednesday were also the creators of Smallville so there's some overlap in the kind of content for sure.

Wednesday was totally carried by Jenny Ortega. Everything else about the show screamed CW.

Netflix Originals is a pretty broad label, but I definitely didn't get "This was made on a shoestring budget that had to be stretched over 20 episodes" vibe from those two shows, though I didn't particularly enjoy them.
Wednesday was the biggest CW-esque show. If you took as is, called it the first half of season 1 of a CW show (before the budget cuts set in and everyone gets tired of creating a 22 episode show a year, every year, for a few years in row), no one would question that. Then you have a shows like Warrior Nun that resembles a season 3 CW show, or Fate Winx that is a CW season 7 show where everyone involved is exhausted and begging for cancellation, but also attached the paycheck that they aren’t sure they will get elsewhere.
Netflix is a general purpose streamer aiming to appeal to as many people as possible. They can make shows only in the style of OG HBO if they wanted to but not everyone is into those style of shows in the same way not everyone is into the kinds of books your English teacher wants you to read. If Netflix was a for-profit library do you expect them to only carry books like 1984 and the great gatsby or would you expect self help books, young adult novels & romance books too?
OP is saying that there's no 1984 or Great Gatsby.
They have aired The Crown, Ozark, Dahmer, 1899, Mo, Stranger Things, Russian Doll, Dead To Me, Inventing Anna, and From Scratch in 2022. That is a pretty solid roster of a diverse variety of prestige shows. The also had award recognised big viewership hits like Bridgerton, Emily in Paris, Cobra Kai, and Wednesday on top of that.
1899 was also released recently. Granted it is not as good as Dark, I still think it is worth a try if you are looking for a more meaningful TV Show.

I don’t think that’s what OP is saying since he said “…now feel like” then references two shows that came out this month.
It’s arguably not true either way they have stuff like the crown, queens gambit. Mind hunter, house of cards, etc. that are more of the slow burn serious or artsy fartsy style.
Netflix put out lots of content. More than 1 show a week. So some of them were bound to feel like CW shows. There are reality shows, like Floor is Lava or Is it cake, for example. There are bad history documentaries that talk about alien stuff that wouldn't feel out of place in the History channel. And good history documentaries that wouldn't feel out of place in old History channel.
Netflix is trying to replace all TV, not just prestige cable TV. So don't expect only prestige HBO / AMC adult drama level stuff from them.
Idk I haven’t seen The Recruit yet but Netflix makes so many shows that I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the CW talent gets thrown in the mix.
I actually don’t inherently dislike CW shows, I like stuff that’s well executed though & with the episode count of Netflix shows they’re more likely to cut the fluff that sometimes bogs down CW shows. So I don’t think it’s too bad
I should have rephrased my question, there's some CW shows that I enjoy like supernatural and some of the DC shows like for the first couple of seasons, I just felt some Netflix originals or like a bad CW show,

All you have to do is look at the top 10 movies/shows on Netflix to see who their demographic is; Teenagers.
I mean, CW shows are/were some of the most popular shows on the service (Riverdale, All American, Supernatural).
There’s a reason Netflix had a billion dollar *(a year) deal with the CW for their content for a long time.
It makes sense that they would try to make shows for those viewers now that that deal is done.
And as a fan of CW shows, I welcome it. I just wish Netflix would adjust and make the jump to 22 episode seasons like the CW.

The recruit does delve into young adult themes as that's who the main character is. It makes sense for him to have those concerns but you meet some full fledged adults and people with other problems as well.
His problems are also pretty serious imo and his whole character arc is about reconciling his maturity and motivations with his career - he's on his first job out of school so I think it's a fair thing to analyze.
You or I can have any opinion we want about netflix shows and how we see their quality. But they are just opinions that hold no merit over a streaming services success. The metric that does hold merit is viewership, and netflix week after week after week runs circles around all the other streaming services with viewership. You may not like it vs things like HBO Max but its pretty clear that the actual audiences out there in the US are more engaged in the style of shows netflix develops and outs out than the orestige shows you like the most.
When you spew a ton of content like Netflix does its bound to happen. It sucks when networks that have less content do it aswell.
The recruit is awful. Nothing about it is believable and yes now that you mention it it does seem like a CW show. It seems like what a teenager would write about the CIA having no idea how any of it works and apparently having no consultants.

A bit cheesy?! It’s not he cheesiest. I just can’t get over how bad the main characters acting is. The show may have turned out okay if they had hired a better actor to play the main role. Like his acting is 💩, big huge smelly 💩 but I was interested by the preview
