I appreciate the comment and I will try customer service.
Me and my wife's friend both tried to cancel it via the app but it just comes up saying order already dispatched, need to contact merchant.
Ireallyamthisshallow t1_ixexuj3 wrote
Amazon can definitely cancel that - especially if the merchant is not contactable. Though if you bought the item it would be you needing to contact them I would assume. But, as I say, L always has the option of refusing the delivery anyway.

Thank you for informing me

Yeah Amazon will cancel it. Hit up their chat and explain the situation.

This. All of this. It's an honest mistake. Anyone else would've just said "ah shit", had it canceled, laughed with the wife about it, and bought her some things from her list.
Or, alternatively, you could get her things for her birthday without her having to provide a list. There's nothing you know she likes that you could get for her without her asking for it?

'keep them' is where you went wrong.

And pretending he can't cancel the order he made. Lowkey putting the onus onto L when it's not her order to cancel to avoid being responsible for the order going through. Telling her to keep them before even speaking to wife. Cares more about L inconveniencing herself than how this might appear to his wife.
All super wrong moves.

I'm not pretending to do anything. I've tried to cancel and so has L. We've been unsuccessful. I was under the impression at the time that's all we could do. I've now been informed otherwise.

It’s a funny story.
Sounds strange to hide that from your wife…

I thought this was gonna be filled with more drama, like accusations and revelations of OP cheating on his wife

Sorry to disappoint lol

Once it’s cancelled, I’d tell your wife. It’s a hilarious story! Hope it works out.

Let's hope! Haha

Do your wife and her friend wear the same size shoe? Would your wife like the shoes you ordered. If the answer is yes to both, problem solved.

That could be a good plan B lol

Also, just curious where you guys parked your spaceship when you landed on earth, since Amazon wish lists are about 20 years old, at least.
Seems super weird that you're just hearing about them.

Dealing with Amazon marketplace sellers is the Worst. It's very rare that I purchase something that is not sold by or at least shipped by Amazon. I'll almost never buy on Amazon if it's both sold and shipped by a 3rd party, unless it's a major company/brand. I will even pay a it more for the Amazon option, specially to avoid situations like this.
If it's shipped by Amazon, you can cancel order until it gets actually shipped out. After it's shipped, you can return it. If it's shipped by a 3rd party, you may or may not get any help with this kind of issue.

It's Amazon. You can 100% cancel it if it has not been delivered. You can chat to customer services if not. L can refuse the delivery. There's lots of options here.
The only odd thing here is telling L she can keep them instead of any inconvenience. Or that you'd keep it a secret. Both them things sound 100% dodgy and if your wife found out she'd surely assume the worst.
