Top 5 Angry Eagle Voters

For the NEK haters, only one town - Irasburg - was in NEK. The rest were all over the state

Edit: Ok, two in NEK - Lowell. Thank you /u/DeepWoodsDanger for the moderately snarky correction. But also I agree - no hate for NEK. They're Vermonters too

Top 5 Welch's Grapes supporters

Not terribly surprising there.

Thank you to our Secretary of State for releasing election results in Excel form - it's the best/worst

Enjoy!

p.s. anyone know how I can find per town 18+ populations? I'm only seeing by county. I want to find you shits who aren't voting.

Also send me your requests for analytics. Curious what I can find in this data

I am fairly confident that the ugly angry eagle posters outnumbered angry eagle voters.

Lowell is in the NeK as well. It literally borders Irasberg.

But also stop hating the NeK in general.

Edited- brought the snarky down 50 percent.🙃 love you all.

What is up with the NEK hate in this sub latley. Its like the everyone in this sub wants to blame all of the problems that are prevalent throughout the entire state on one faraway region.

Hey king is there anyway for you to post the link to this spreadsheet publicly without the ability for anyone besides yourself to alter? I’d love to see it 👏🏼

I can! Because it's totally public information from our gracious secretary of state -

https://outside.vermont.gov/dept/sos/Elections%20Division/election%20info%20and%20resources/elections%20results%20and%20data/2022%20GE%20Candidate%20Vote%20Totals%20for%20Website.xlsx

My version is saved to desktop at the moment. I could probably upload to google docs at some point if folks are interested in my mediocre math skills

Yup tribalism is ruining our country. You can break down populations into smaller and smaller tribes. Just a childish way to place blame on others and a form of identity politics. It doesn’t always have to be us vs them 🙄

So growing up in hardwick, I was taught the kingdom was defined by rt 14 from hardwick north to Newport and rt 15 (joins rt 2 in west Danville) from hardwick east to the NH border but that’s just me. I love hearing all the definitions of the kingdom because it’s a bit of an esoteric region border-wise.

Doesn't matter who you vote for, we'll still be fighting bullshit wars. We'll still bomb innocent people. We'll still be in debt. We'll still have mass surveillance and other constitutional breaches. We'll still support zionism. We still won't regulate the pharmaceutical companies. You get it. Or maybe not. We could have been on the way to change back in 2016, but Clinton decided to rig the primaries instead of stepping to the side to let Sanders take a shot. Vote for this cursed country all you want. We're still only going to stay stagnant.

shrugs undesirable VT places to live have:

  1. Trump Truck Parades
  2. business that don’t mask and sue for the ‘right’ not to, repeatedly, nonsensically
  3. dumb as dogshit ‘anti-CRT’ fans including elected officials like white prider Brian Smith (R-Derby)
  4. schools/boards that didn’t mask well

I love the NEK, went to high school there, et al. Here’s the naysayer truth tho- easier to dump on some region they don’t know well rather than to clean up redneck shit in their area. Most people picking on Rutland for their mascot shit aren’t picking on SoBur for same level of racist fandom (tho different outcome/leadership obv). Shitty people are al over but in less populated areas there is less to cover so shitty people and institutions loom larger. NEK has a lot of things going for it and, as many Vermonters do, not-so-secretly hope people don’t learn the secret and move there.

Age breakdown for VT towns… start with

https://onthemap.ces.census.gov/

You may find the census tracts don’t match town boundaries or the margin of error on some estimates is more than the population in question. Common problem for small rural communities.

It’s a start. Also, your regional planning commission probably already has all the age/gender/etc. demographic breakdowns for communities.

Right but it's not a scale of the same size. You've got places like Burlington vs places like Pawlet. So 70% Burlington going for Welch is not comparable to 70% Pawlet by several magnitudes.

I was more interested in raw numbers per town and total % of votes contributed to a given candidate (both stats arbitrarily chosen between glass 2 and 3 of wine)

You're not wrong, you're just looking for a different view than I was with this

For looking at age breakdown of town, city, and village populations, go to the census website. Here's an example for Richmond village : https://data.census.gov/cedsci/profile?g=1600000US5059200

You just scroll down to the populations and people section. You can search by town, city, CDP/Village, County, State, etc.

Edit: For some reason when I first wrote this it looked like it was written by someone who barely knew english.
