She closes when she sells out of her dishes for the day. Its not a typical restaurant in the sense that she has open hours; when her daily made curry is gone, its off the menu for the day. She does not make another batch until the next day. At least that's how it used to be.
You know that shit is top notch too, I've never been at a place that shuts their counter down after selling out that didn't have absolutely bananas food.
I'm down in Texas and we have several BBQ joints like that. My brother used to know this old man named N.O. that did it this way. He'd be out at the ass crack of dawn with the smoker he ran through the night, and you best get there and get in that line if you wanted anything. He retired some years ago, and nobody has filled his place because it's damn near impossible. Bet this little lady with her curries will be the same way.
There's a pizza place in Boston's North End like this. They make a certain amount of two kinds of pizza every day and there's a line out the door until it's gone. Umberto's I think.
I used to live in Boston and I think about Umbertos daily. Their arancini were to die for.
I definitely was thinking of Umberto's. Maybe the best pizza I've ever had in my life and that's saying something.
An institution. Best pizza around.
It really is.
Nothing like driving out to Lockhart Texas at 9am to hit up Blacks beef ribs!
Lived here for years and had no idea excellent curry was so close by.
There's a convenience market in Weston on the sled trails where everyone gasses up that has some of the best Indian food I've ever had. And I've been to India. Absolutely BANGING.
Pretty sure this is the same family who owns Masala Corner in downtown Rutland and their food is amazing
Where?!?
Across from the Weston Playhouse’s new theater/ or their restaurant the Hub
Thank you! Grabbing my keys lol
can confirm, awesome spot!
Rickie's Indian in South Barre is surprisingly good, and it's also in a rather nondescript gas station. Same with Ananda's up the road in the Thomas Greenhouse building (though the rumor is that they're moving into downtown Barre)
Wow. I get gas here from time to time and never realized there was a restaurant there. Thanks for this. Going to give them a try!
I'm sure with a bit of Googling, you'll find dozens of reviews that are all basically saying the same thing- "I can't believe I found Indian food this good and authentic in f**king Barre". The plates are around $16-20 but it's totally worth it
I think that's the one my wife and I tried to find, are they only weekdays too?
I brought friends of mine from out of state to Rickie’s and they were so sketched out until they ate the food. Years later they still rave about their gas station Indian food.
Their butter chicken though. 🤤
Sounds delicious! It would be very nice if you would post some more info about this place. Does it have a name or an address?
They are located inside the Riverbend Market at 18 Bridge St. in Morrisville.

Ha! My bad. Thank you. Will edit!
It’s called Nepali Cuisine. The samosas are excellent.
Seven Days wrote a good story about the couple and how the location came to be a few years ago. They still do a good truck for some events in the area, but cash only.

The owners are from Nepal and buy their ingredients from Nepalese markets. Their dumplings are my favorite but everything is good. They are open from around lunch time through dinner and closed on weekends.
I thought this was going to be about the one in Barre, which is excellent. I'm delighted to know that there's more than one out there.
I love the chicken curry and the dumpling. 4 stars
This place is amazing tbh. Chicken curry is off the charts good.
It is delicious! Love their samosas.
Food is great! I get it too often :D
Yeah it’s solid
And a really good one. That place has good food.
Best dumplings in the universe. I moved out of state recently and still miss going there!
New one in Northfield also. DS Cafe
Their samosas are literally the best. They have a food truck as well that goes to the live music nights in town during the summer.
Best food in Morrisville. Also, the pizza at the gas station by Bishop Marshall is really good. Not just good for a gas station, but actually good. Epic for a gas station.
God bless immigrants for running the best convenience stores and restaurants open late and on holidays in the most unexpected places.
Tandoori chicken Fridays are a staple in my Household.
Yes! It’s Nepalese takeout. The family that runs it is super nice and the food is great.
Is there a place like this in Rutand? I seem to remember someone saying something about something similar in that area
Personally liked Little Haveli, it's in an old bank across the street from Starbucks https://www.littlehaveli.com/
Not sure if it’s still there but there was an Indian place in a gas station in Rutland. Last time I went was about ten years ago though

Dat place is dope. And if you bring in your own dish, they tend to give you an extra large scoop.
Loved this place when I had a brief job in Morrisville.
They have really good curry and samosas +1 would recommend.
Anyone tried any of the vegetarian stuff there? I’ve only been in on weekends/after they run so haven’t had a chance to try
I love how much good Nepalese/Indian food there is in VT nowadays! We have like 3 or 4 restaurants in Essex now and they're all amazing.
Very good! Also there’s similarly a great Indian restaurant off of I89 in S.Barre. Located in the gas station just off the exit.
Can’t say much about the food but I went to school with the owner’s son and was pretty good friends with him. Very friendly and kind family!

People rave about it. I drove down one day specifically to get some but they were closed. This reminds me I need to give it a try again
