A bunch of armed men pulling up on a middle school when school gets out and robbing the students should be bigger news. It's insane what people are getting comfortable with in this city; the boiled frog.

Lets see if this gets the same victim blaming reaction like the Canada goose robberies.

Yeah, a kid at my elementary school in pg county got killed for his Eddie Bauer jacket in the 90s. Another school, the starter jacket. Messed up man.

There are people who are fundamentally incapable of functioning in society and should never be allowed to breathe free air ever again.

If you would threaten to kill a middle schooler to take their shoes, you are one of those people.

Who robs middle schoolers? Like middle school isn’t hard enough

To add some context, in the late 1980s stealing shoes and jackets was common place in DCPS. Like actually in school. Yes weapons were involved.

TL;DW: This happened at the Eliot-Hine Middle School in DC. Four men in a car pulled up outside the school. At least one of the criminals exited the vehicle with a gun and carried out an armed robbery on the premises of the school (apparently outside the building but on school property). They stole several pairs of expensive shoes, taking them right off the student owners' feet. No description of the perpetrators was provided, but anyone with information about the crime should call the police.

You know who this never happened to? The kids who customized their shoes. Kids today should put their favorite patches on the sneaks with heavy duty fabric glue - looks cool, and thieves won’t want them after that

How about it isn't cool when middle schoolers get robbed

People were definitely getting hurt for coats and shoes back in the 90's and even as a child I thought it was dumb to keep wearing that clothing.

Fast forward nearly 30 years later and I still don't wear clothes like that. I actually forgot how I got like that but this post reminded me of it.

Also, people use the term "victim blaming" entirely too much. No matter what a person does it considered wrong to say it's wrong and that's wrong in itself.

Nice free country we got where the response to “armed robbers steal clothing from middle school children” is “they shouldn’t wear those articles of clothing”

Ok could've but I didn't. I was around back then and saw that stuff first hand.

As much people talk about things they don't know anything about. I frankly don't want to hear it.

Definitely nothing new and those kids that it was happening to back then are parents now. It's a shame that people don't learn.
