Bowling or pool. But i think pool leads to better conversations since youre not walking away from each other to bowl.
I tried bowling once, it didn't feel particularly good for a first date. I think any of that stuff where you take turns kind of sucks for a first/early date - interrupts conversation or you end up loudly talking from a distance.
Pool is great, it's chill enough to allow space for conversation, nobody cares enough about the outcome to get upset if they're losing, and you get to check out your date leaning across the table for those tough shots.
Maybe we’re chasing different women, but it’s not just about the nature of the activity, it’s also about whether the woman will actually enjoy it. In the case of both laser tag and pool, I have concerns. Plus Im not taking a first date to a random bar with a pool table.
What's the problem with pool? I've always enjoyed pool on a date.
First dates should be low stakes, don't put to much pressure on anyone. You really just want a quick chance to know a little more but a little goes a long way. Each person should be able to call it quickly when they discover the other person smells bad or whatever. Ideally stick with a drink, coffee, lunch, a walk or picnic in the park. You want to be able to talk with the person and but also quickly cut it off if you find out they voted for trump or something crazy.
Swingers is pricey but fun

Bike or scooter around the monuments on a nice sunny day
Ice skating at the sculpture garden: https://www.nga.gov/visit/ice-rink.html
Walk around Georgetown GLOW lights and stop for a drink or food in Georgetown after: https://www.georgetownglowdc.com/
Boardroom is a super fun first date!
usually a meme to go to a smithsonian museum. helps that they’re free and meant for walking around, though people might be annoyed if you talk too much.
👉👌
Just look at the mess you’ve gone and made
Well sure, handholding is good. But you never can predict if it’ll happen.
Or what will happen next🫣
Is it my turn?
Dan's Cafe.
I take my kids to the zoo a lot and I see a surprising amount of people on dates there. Also plug for ice skating, escape rooms, distillery tours, artechouse, and huge estate tours in NW/Georgetown area.

Go to the waterfront and feed the ducks.
Or if they’re cool, take mushrooms and go to the Natural History Museum.
You’ll want to do something that allows you opportunities to get to know the person. You should also make sure, you have ample opportunity to “start” a conversation/keep a conversation. With all that said, try the following options:
Visit a (free) museum and have dinner afterwards.
Walk through Eastern Market and have a dinner afterwards.
Visit the Botanical Garden and have dinner at Eastern Market.
Upshot: You don’t want to invest too much time/energy on your first-date. Doing something cheap/free, allows you to focus on getting to know the person. If you’re into them, then move from a public event to something more intimate (dinner). Everything goes well over dinner? Great. Now it’s time to spend a little more, have a bit more adventure, and get to know the person even more on a second date - ice skating, movies, or even bowling.
Biking the MBT - it's fun, it's public, and there are breweries!
All 3 of the miles? The part by the garbage dump makes for a weird date.
Meh worked for me and my bf lol - diff strokes for diff folks :) FWIW it's not as smelly out there rn since it's colder out than in the summer.
There's a fun arcade bar down by the SW Waterfront called Boardwalk Bar. Doesn't have many games but the aesthetic and area is pretty cool.
Wordless eye contact for several straight hours
The Metro
If I ever do get into the dating game at least one trip on the metro is required on a first date. Anyone who says no to it shall be passed over.
X’s and O’s in Sterling and do some axe throwing with a brewery on site
Definitely the Smithsonian

Laser tag for a first date seems highly optimistic. Nothing like a game for kids, surrounded by kids, with minimal opportunity to talk for a first date. Better off going bowling.
