This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 87%. (I'm a bot)

> MEXICO CITY - About 200 women are still in prison in Mexico under outdated anti-abortion state laws even though the Supreme Court decriminalized abortion last year, advocates said.

> The slow legal process to free women who are still imprisoned made some progress this month when Aurelia García Cruceño, a 23-year-old Indigenous woman who was just released from prison after three years for having a miscarriage.

> In Guerrero in 2022, there were 108 women murdered and 12 cases of femicide - cases of women and girls killed because of their gender.

Mexico's got bigger problems than abortion now. Save the legal resources for higher priorities.

Coming to terms with abortion is a problem for relatively stable societies.

This is yet another reason abortion needs to be safe and legal. This is also a huge problem in El Salvador, where women are routinely jailed for miscarriages. It’s also happened in the US.

I dont understand how people can be so cruel. These are mothers, daughters, and sisters. They were put in this position by no fault of their own. Please pray for the release of these women.

What happens if a woman gets arrested while about to have an abortion. Do they just throw the mother in jail and let the kid figure their own shit out?

Let’s see if we will have the same protests against Mexico hosting the ‘26 world cup for all the human/women rights as we saw with Qatar and the LGBTQ rights.

My heart goes out to these women. The sexism in the government is disgusting.

Fuck politics! Fuck the Government!

That's what divides us

I'm Conservative, but come on man, FUCK the Government for telling Women what they can, or CAN'T do with their Bodies!!!

I'm also Mexican, and knowing my people are mainly Catholic, I'm not surprised, but they have to separate Politics, Religion, from our Personal choices!

You're Mexican, you believe in bodily autonomy and separation of church power from politics but you vote conservative still? You're either tragically misinformed on your party's agenda or you actually hate all the things you stand for and want to see them fail because you seem to be voting for the wrong people.

How am I brainwashed? I'm not even from the states, but I can see that one party hates all the above and one doesn't. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but you're not voting for the one that supports your positions.

I thought it was more them wanting more white babies, just like the Nazis. Nazis even had women at birthing centers solely for purpose of making more babies. Much like The Handmaidens Tale

Idk how to do links, but one article on Timeline is called “The Nazi breeding and infanticide program you probably never knew about.”

Sadly, a case like the one you mention has already occurred, an indigenous woman who was abused did not say anything because of the "uses and customs that our president defends" she had an abortion and did not even recover when she was arrested and locked up in less than 3 days
