I used a case on my 3G. I used a case for part of the time on my 4 but stopped using one while I still owned it. I did not use a case on my 5, SE, or XR. I will not use a case on whatever I get next.

What are you afraid it would break into pieces? They are not delicate.

Dark Sky definitely got it right with an incredibly efficient and informative display. Almost all of that data has now made it into Apple's Weather app, but with much more concern for making it pretty than making it efficient.

I started using Dark Sky in 2008 when it was nothing but the forecast.io website. There was no app yet and it had not been renamed to Dark Sky yet. I started transitioning to Weather after Apple announced the death of the app. I used both of them for a while, but have now been 100% Weather app for a few months.

I use https://maps.darksky.net quite often. I'll miss that when it's gone, or maybe they will leave it up and rename it?

>I dont know what the fuzz about this is.

It was the best weather app there was. Apple obviously agreed, because they chose to buy that one and not some other one.

>Although one thing. I’m hoping it might stay on until April now?

The Dark Sky API will remain available through the end of March, so services like Carrot Weather that use it for their weather data can continue using the data until then, then they will have to switch to Apple WeatherKit or find another provider.

The Dark Sky app should die tonight.

It’s a bad idea if you don’t need the money today because that is $30,000 that will no longer be in the account gaining value. It’s not necessarily a bad idea if you actually need the money for a specific purpose and there are no penalties for withdrawing it.

Considering you want to withdraw 25% and not a specific dollar amount makes it seem like you don’t need it for a specific purpose, so bad idea.

>Is it possible to get notifications on a locked home screen when receiving emails? I’ve tried everything I could find online.

It should work as long as you have Lock Screen enabled in the mail notification settings. iOS 16 really messed up notifications for me though, and my mail notifications rarely show on the lock screen anymore. It's a real nuisance.

>Talked to one Apple advisor who told me to update and then it should work. It didn’t.

It should work, but it doesn't always work because of the changes Apple made in iOS 16. They broke notifications.

>Talked to another one today who said that the Mail app is not supposed to have notifications like other apps?

That person is incompetent and needs to be fired.

I only downloaded 7 apps in 2022:

  • Actions - this gives extra options in the Shortcuts app. It has been very useful for me.
  • Activity Tracker - sole purpose of this was to get a Lock Screen widget showing how many miles I walked for the day.
  • MusicBox - this lets me use the share sheet from Apple Music to save albums I want to listen to later.
  • Fenix - this is a third party app for Twitter. I like it on the phone but don't like it on the iPad or Mac. I prefer the Tweetdeck website on those.
  • Overcast - This is a podcast app. I downloaded it after reading about it, then deleted it because I don't really listen to podcasts.
  • Calculi - This was a calculator app for my iPad. It was perfect when I downloaded it, then just a few weeks later the developer updated it to add banner ads to the top of the screen and to change the button layout to always show a bunch of scientific keys instead of just the basic functions. I deleted it.
  • Calculator Plus - This is what I downloaded after deleting Calculi.

My most used apps as always were Apollo, Marvis Pro, MultiTimer.

You're looking at your phone, right? Not my phone. Not OP's phone? Not the 100 million other user's phones? What makes you think that you are representative of all Apple users and nothing exists if you haven't personally experienced it? Do you feel this way about every issue everyone ever posts about? If it didn't affect you then it didn't really happen.

That’s the problem. That’s OP’s complaint.

I don’t want it to guess. I want it to show me the picture exactly as I took it and not change it. I will edit it myself if I want it to look different.

> The toggle is still there if you don’t like how the HDR turns out.

Unfortunately it is not. The entry shows up for it in search as I posted in my screenshot in another comment, but the actual toggle is no longer there on my phone or iPad. It is still there on my MacBook and I keep it turned off.

I was looking through some pictures from my last vacation the other day and every single picture taken after dark while walking the city changed after about 2 seconds. It’s horrible and completely kills the mood of the picture.

There used to be a setting for Photos > View Full HDR that you could toggle off. It still shows up in search when you search for HDR, but the actual setting is not there.
