DT700 Pro X has definitley the better tonality. But DT770 has better detail retrieval. Personally I prefer DT700 becuase I find the 770 too sharp.

It's a bit bright and using the foam pads kills some of the details. It's also not the most dynamic or hard hitting bass when compared to some dynamic driver headphones (Focal, Fostex, E-MU).

It's Hifiman so I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't wood. I wish they learned a thing or two about the choice of wood from ZMF though

Are the cups real wood?

Yeah I think the treble region is the most subjective part of headphones frequency response. Different ear shapes and HRTF leads to massive differneces in perception of detail, sibilance and overall brightness. Even the brightest Hifimans like HE1000se is more pleasant to my ears compared to Beyers.

If Hifiman have annoying treble for you I don't know how do you feel about Beyedynamics, and Meze109 and many more actually bright headphones.

I personally don't trust this mainstream website reviews unless there's actually objective measurements on the headphones.

Aeolus. Not the best resolution, but excellent timbre and they're just so enjoyable to listen to.

Same driver usually doesn't translate into same performance. If the technical performance is anywhere close, I'll jump on them! But considering how great Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and AirPods Pro 2 are, and with proper ANC, the competition is stiff.

Yeah looking at this picture:

It's a call-only feature. The 190$ price seems a bit steep considering there's no ANC.

That might be only for phone calls or not as effective as ANC.

I'm confused, is ENC another form of ANC? Or ALICE lacks ANC?

Tonality (at least to me) is the balance between bass, treble and midrange. DT700 has a balanced ratio between these three but DT770 has more bass and treble than it has midrange. Detail retrieval is kind of self explanatory, it's how much nuances and fine details you can extract and hear from the music. (sorry for my bad English).
