The problem is when the moron taggers write over the truly artistic pieces then it spirals into a mess. We can’t have nice things because there are morons amongst us. And the misguided protestors will think the community supported the mess when they loved the murals. Dysfunctional loop there.

Yes, it’s called enactment of agreed upon rules, we’ll call them laws. And we can have penalties when people break them and send people to jail. Except now everyone said that’s not nice so we have to coexist with people who are ok with stabbing each other.

Shelters should have cops assigned, no drug use permitted, warrant checks and cameras. Pretty simple actually.

How exactly? People have cried out they don’t want cops in these situations, in their homes/shelters, don’t stop or frisk anyone, drug use decriminalized so that lovely crack smell is something you should ignore along with the discarded needles. Everyone is gleefully excited over casinos and legalized drug use. Whole city has gone cray, lol.

Why is everything looked at through a racial lens. Has historic racism led to greater share of broken homes in African American communities. Does that affect the capacity to manage children with less support and resources. Children with less supervision get into more trouble and in turn ACS gets involved more frequently. Unpleasant how exploitation in the past still has residual effects today.

Yeah because no outsiders make it to Astoria to party and the multitude of clubs every night.

Sad fact, lots of losers in jail don’t get visits. People with support networks and decent families get visitors. Conversely those people are far less likely to end up on Rikers…

Place also has successful fraternities and networking opportunities (UBN).
