Like in all cities , I’m sure the living experience is directly related to your type of work , income , neighborhood and personal life .

Violent Crime is down for the year , and mostly flat on all other stats . Zeldin had some good proposals but I don’t think he would have made a difference other than firing Bragg. If Albany makes these changes , they will avoid losing in the next election. Democrats are just doing the smart thing here , otherwise they will get wiped out if they can’t listen to the polls

I mean is obvious that this is a policy that most New Yorkers and liberals in general support. I don’t get the point of people being a contrarian on this

That was a bad period for sure and some of them were provoked altercations between two or more people . Millions ride it daily and the overall safety has improved since then . Is not 100% sure , nothing is really. But definitely one of the safe method of transportation

Or at the very least to keep it hybrid , when they can actually gather around during important meetings and projects maybe once a week

I agree 100%, is beneficial for both the employers and employees . The only people that unfortunately lose in this transactions are business owners near office areas.

Nimbys won’t like it , but a lot of these lines should be extended into the western parts of Suffolk county

This would be a game changer , Manhattan and to a big extent any other part of any borough, including the north shore of Staten Island , all have great access to public transit . But once you go deeper into the other boroughs is start to get a little more difficult . Is still accessible , but it takes too long to go from south Brooklyn to Astoria , the Bronx , and many other places

Is already safe , what they need is to have a Brooklyn-Queens-Bronx line and redo some of the bus lines and express services

That’s what I say , nyc gets a bad rep as a dirty city . But there are many neighborhoods where people would get surprised at how clean it is

Yeah, nyc subways don’t look as nice and neat as Tokyos or Seoul. But is good enough , they can make some improvements . But as far as your average big city goes is pretty damn good. MTA just needs to make more effort at avoiding delays .

This is good but what about banning corporations from owning more than 10 units , or actually , for each aditional unit past 10 they should pay like a 80% tax to discourage excess buying

I like seeing common sense responses in this thread . Is the same logic as why would you replace a perfectly working car after 4 or 5 years.

Not even close IMO. Is true that there are more druggies in the East coast from DC to Boston now , specially post pandemic . But I don’t think is even close to anywhere in the west coast like LA, SF, Seattle , etc
