They’re correct though. I can’t think of any rights that a government guarantees and/or can’t overrule. We don’t, as a species, have any inherent universal rights. They’re man made ideas, which evolve with time and are changeable as morals change

Thank you for saying my curiosity! I’m hit or miss with Gaiman, but it sounds interesting and I think I’ll definitely listen to a preview or two. Thanks!

I’ve been idly curious about this since seeing it on audible… how do you make a comic into an audiobook? Do they describe the panels? Is extra stuff added to explain bits that you’ll miss by not seeing them? How does it work??

Every time! I don’t care enough to flick between here and google to find out, but I’d like to be able to add a few to my wish list

The audible versions are so good, Indira Varma does all the witches voices so well. Highly recommend for both anyone that loves the series and those that are new to it!

I love the secret history and hated the goldfinch, and to that end I agree with this recommendation. The comments on this sub have led me to the conclusion that you only love one of these books and hate the other

I do the same. Either if I’ve really loved the book, or if it’s the kind of book I hope my kids will one day pick up off my bookshelf. I was introduced to a wide range of writing by browsing my mums books, and it occurred to me not long ago that if I stick with ebooks my kids will never have that opportunity

One, unless it’s scary and then I’ll read that only in the day and a lighter book when it’s dark. I love scary books but the anxiety at night isn’t always worth it!

I must just be lucky then. I used to be a copy editor so I’d certainly notice!

The only time I ever saw typos in books was on kindle. When I switched to a different ereader I stopped seeing any, and I never do in paper books. Kindle must have problems with their system, I think

Strong disagree. I hardly ever come across typos in books! Traditional publishing almost never has typos. You might see them a lot in self published, potentially?

“Don’t judge a book by its cover” is purely metaphorical, about people and their appearance. Publishers follow a lot of traditions and conventions to convey genre and style with their covers, we are MEANT to judge the book this way!
