Im confused as to what it is that you want? In general yimbys want strict zoning laws “softened” so that multifamily homes and other alternatives to single family homes can be built in a particular area.
People advocating for that in one area doesn’t preclude it from happening elsewhere. While I agree that the developers need to start paying attention to other parts of the city it’s not like this group is actively courting them and paying them off to only develop north of the river. If anything I would think this group would be happy to see that kind of investment in poorer areas as well.

Even if it doesn’t lower the costs in less expensive areas having more options in “more desirable locations” will prevent the wealthy from displacing lower income people in the less wealthy ones. That seems like a win in and of itself.
I agree with you that we should have far more development in the underdeveloped areas as well however.

I don’t disagree that a dog has to be trained to be off leash to be able to do it well but even so that dog (and all dogs on walks within the city) should have been on a leash.
To be fair I don’t know how strong the owner is vs how strong the dog was so a leash might not have been enough in this situation but it certainly would have helped.

I have to admit to knowing next to nothing about the laws surrounding this but how is that possible? If someone’s dog kills a person, I would expect there to be criminal repercussions.

Meh, I agree they aren’t all that useful in enacting change but it’s honestly a drop in the bucket of the budget to put them up and if it even gets a few people to change their behavior I’ll chalk it up as a W.
Let’s be honest the real solutions are bump outs, raised walk ways and to turn some of these 2 lane roads into a one lane road and a protected bike lane. Driving needs to be less convenient full stop.
I really hope we get there eventually but something tells me that some of the people clowning on these for being ineffective would raise an absolute hissy fit if we really start trying to change the roads.
