That’s absolutely false. North Yarmouth isn’t Falmouth Foreside. Most of the people concerned about growth in NY are older and/or on fixed income who want to preserve the rural nature of the town and who are concerned about taxes - of which the school budget is the big driver.

You don’t need to go to N Yarmouth. Imagine how many homes for the homeless you could build on Riverside golf course

I get the feeling the opponents would be against this even if environmentally responsible practices were assured and that none of give a damn about the County otherwise. We want all the benefits of new technology, including renewable energy and energy storage but aren’t willing to contribute to what it takes to get there. All those elements have to come from somewhere, we need to be willing to assume a share of the burden.

Because people who grew up in that area are noting the passing of an era. It was kind of a thing. Doesn’t matter what it’s becoming.

All depends on where the most vulnerable pipes are. Watch for any that are close to outside walls/foundation, especially near drafts if it’s an older house.

Not much fishing going on at the moment. Ice fishing also probably won't be happening unless we get a deep, sustained freeze, which is not forecast.
Wolf Neck Woods State Park in Freeport is nice for a hike. Gilsland Farm (Audubon) in Falmouth.
Might want to bring ice traction for your shoes for any hiking/walks.

As others have said, report to code enforcement but make sure you do it in writing and get confirmation. Pretty sure you can use that as a defense if he tries to evict you (retaliatory eviction) after that.
Candygramformrmongo t1_ixdixmb wrote
All or some combination of the above, I suspect. I’ve heard stories from rural law enforcement that would make your skin crawl. Kids kept prisoner and abused, often impregnated. All doors in the house removed. I think it is easier to isolate and control the abused in rural areas and people tend to keep to themselves more. I don’t think anyone said anything about “throwing money” at anything yet. We have a number of mandatory reporting professions, but education as to red flags is probably among the more important steps we could take.

I hear you and possibly, but I’m less concerned about the relativity and more concerned with our specific situation in Maine. No matter how you look at it, our number is too high - especially for the most defenseless segment of our society. If someone’s reaction to that is to cast doubt based on 2 highly urbanized states that have nothing to do with Maine, then I question that person’s misplaced. priorities and outlook.
