Bad or old wiring? You can always rent a kilowatt from a library to check appliances to see how much they are drawing power. Could check breakers (on/off) to see what’s drawing power.

Could be a sign of a dying well pump if you have one. Or a sump pump.

There are hundreds of examples of states with high density, low income housing. Market forces abound, it’s in the rental industries best interest to keep supply just below demand. They also don’t want regular housing, condos, or upward mobility reducing their share of the market. Guaranteed housing, like guaranteed UBI may be the future, but it’s going to be four walls, a ceiling, and a door. That may be fine for some but it will drive others insane.

Ding ding ding ding…. This is the winning answer. If it doesn’t make money in a capitalist society than it doesn’t get done by a private company. If people want trains they need to legislate for it. Get support. Find one city or community that is pro mass transit and make it a model for other cities to follow. Boston spent $$$$$ on the big dig, imagine if implementing a train or other mass transit solution at a fraction of the cost. It would turn heads pretty quickly.

NJ is a smaller state than NY. There is more rural area in NY. There are a lot of differences between the states, I’m sure there are plenty more than what I’ve mentioned.

What is more likely?

A. Maine is a shitty climate for children being abused and so therefore has a significantly higher rates of abuse than any other state.

B. Maine reports more child abuse cases per capita than any other state.

Also, is this a city thing? A rural thing? These numbers matter because it determines the solutions. Throwing money at every school or community is a waste of resources when this is specific to a certain location, demographic, economic region, etc.

If the sign is within the right of way for municipal roads are they in fact public property? Does that mean I own those signs? Can I do what I want with them? Who is responsible for that sign on public property?

So don’t attack the act of doing but the act of producing said items. Legislate rules that the materials must be made in Maine. The material must be burnable, recyclable, and reusable. Mailers must be mailed from within the state to primary residences.

If anything goes these damned things would be printed on styrofoam boards. Legislation that is sounds good or is a net benefit for the state is more likely to pass and become law.
