This setting seems to 'fixed' the headphone for me, it's closer to the demo unit I tried out now. its much better, but still, if it needs EQ then I don't think I can let it pass, it's a studio headphones, it isn't supposed to need EQ to begin with. I can't imagine mixing with this and have to compensate for this much bass.

Certainly helped but still not what I would considered good. I messed around with the Loki EQ on my stack, didn’t have any EQ software installed due to my fragile state audio drivers (it’s messy and don’t wanna break it, please help). The 1000XM3 paired to my iPhone is a bass hell. It’s like a pair of Beats all of sudden, sounds fine paired to my Samsung, still bassy but man, iPhone did some crazy stuff to it. In the Sony app I had to do some ridiculous EQ to get it under controlled.

I originally got the K371 for my tiny portable practice amp and EQ wouldn’t be an option on it. On a regular amp it’s possible to work around but that’s a hassle.

That's exactly where I tried them and got them, Guitar Center. They had Uptown Funk on it and it sounds incredible. In term of seals, I didn't notice anything off from a 3 hours practice session I was having with my bass guitar. It got a bit hot but it's not bad at all. I did had to adjust a lot of my stuff on the bass VS the settings I had using other cans to practice.

They are absolutely much more fun to listen to than the 770 pro for a lot of genre. Comfort wise, I will hand it to the 770 pro. However, in theory the K701 is a better design comfort wise, I really like the mechanism that it has with the self adjusting headband, it is also made of stiff 'leather' so you can imagine it's like having a leather belt on top of your head, for now I find the 770 pro to be more comfortable. Additionally, the earpads on the 770 pro is a whole lot softer and more breathable. The K701 create this warm ring around my ears that I can notice after a long session. Maybe an aftermarket earpads can fix this. The extra weight+stiffer pads and headband killed the K701's comfort against the 770 pro.

I pulled out my K-On albums went through them, surprisingly the K701 have a very clear bass and a good enough amount of sub bass with these HTT songs. Honestly, I wouldn't mind rocking these if I were Mio. It's not like my DT 770 Pro but I would say it sounds good for a bass head. I like bass guitars but I don't play them, however I can definitely transcribe what's going on in the bassline with the K701. The soundstage is so wide that the bass doesn't get muddy in with the crazy drum riffs Ritsu was banging out, truly impressive.

I came from the HyperX Could II, which was surprisingly good for a gaming headset. I heard it was a clone of a clone of the DT770Pro, the first time I tried on the DT770Pro it wasn’t much of a wow for me. Since it sounds very familiar I was just not that impressed. It sounded good, but doesn’t hit hard like the K701. Partially because it’s my first openback, the sound stage is just incredible.

If you don't have any DAC/AMP then go with 32 ohms 770 pro. If you have a decent DAC/AMP go with 80 ohm 770 pro.

If you have a good DAC/AMP, and if you prefer bright and open sound, go with 990 pro.

If you have a good DAC/AMP, and if you prefer bassier pairs and concern about noise leakage, go with 770 pro, either 80 ohms if you don't like coiled cables, and 250 ohms if you prefer coiled cable. Remember, impedance rating doesn't mean much. both 80 ohms and 250 ohms doesn't sound different for most people. 80 ohms will be much easier to power. The 250 ohms 770 pro is a bit difficult to power, you would need some good amps for them.

Funny thing is, I just got the DT 770 Pro in November lol, Christmas came wayyyy too early for me this year. I found the K701 on Amazon for $230, which is what it should've cost. But over here, music stores wants $525 for them, even on the official AKG website. So I couldn't hold back against that %50 off Amazon was offering.

I hope you get your pairs soon! I can confirm, Mio got great taste, in bass guitars and headphones. I do wonder, was it her seiyuu Yoko Hikasa choice or if it was handed to the character. Because if I remember correctly, most of the songs (and probably the incredible bassline) were written by Mio herself. Yoko Hikasa actually learned how to play a lefty bass. That's probably my favorite thing about K-On.

Thank you my friend, the first title I played through the K701 was 'When I find Peace of Mind' from the Neon Genesis Evangelion soundtrack, and I was so impressed as it has the bass I didn't expected it to have. As you know, the DT 770 Pro has great sub bass, but the K701 didn't disappointed. Next I played some orchestra arrangement cover of a mobile game soundtrack, I was teared up. It's so good I was just sitting there smiling for like an hour.

The main character from the anime series K-On! Mio Akiyama has a pair of the AKG K701, she's the bassist and the lyricist for her band. She's my favorite character from the series. Naturally, I wanted a pair of K701 for myself, however, I didn't have the luxury to buy a $200-$500 headphones back then. About a couple of days ago, I stumbled upon a Meme Monday post, it has Mio in it, wearing her K701. I was reminded of how much I wanted the AKG back then. So I pulled the trigger the moment I knew what model it was. This is my second pair of audiophile headphone, as you might have guessed, the first was the DT 770 Pro. The open back experience is nothing I've anticipated, I didn't have too much of an expectation for the K701, because you know, I literally just bought it because of an Anime. But holy hell, I was blown away. I aim to get the DT 1990 Pro as my next pair, probably Christmas next year. (Yes, I did just bought myself this year's Christmas present on a January lmao)
