The last statement you made is what I meant. Modernization isn't a great term but I really didn't want to come out the gate being overly aggressive. The bottom line is this - there are people on the city council who will not do something if it benefits working class to poor people in this city. Especially, if they aren't white.

Seeing bikes on the roads in this city makes me anxious driving around. I wish there were bike lanes instead of off street parking everywhere. I feel like that isn't going to happen with all of those new parking meters that have been installed all over the place, though.

The make up of the city council is going to be a roadblock to your ideas. Your best bet is to find candidates to challenge and replace the city councilors that will stop modernization of this city.

I mean, can you name another speaker in recent history that was in the same position as McCarthy? He's on a short leash that's being held by Gaetz, Boebert, Gomer, etc. Did you forget how Gaetz went out of his way to make McCarthy's road to speaker as humiliating as possible? Biden's administration has already said there won't be any negotiations regarding the debt ceiling. Everyone knows he isn't really in charge of anything. He has a weak hand.
Edit - I guess my basic point is, I can't think of any politician openly capitulating to a small group within his own party like he did. It was embarrassing.

Cold Harsh Reality:
Bitching on the internet wont solve this issue. Do you know why? LESS THAN 17% OF REGISTERED VOTERS VOTED IN THE LAST MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS. Not 17% of the population of Worcester. 17% of registered voters.
So, that means a small fraction of people in this city elect officials who will never raise taxes to improve sanitation the way people here want it. The status quo will continue, because most of the residents of this city can't be bothered to vote.
This point covers 99% of the shit people bitch about Worcester. Worcester sucks for you because nimby boomers like it the way it is. They vote. Statistically, most of you don't. So fuck you. Cry harder into your inadequately small recycling bucket.

You may want to check out the app alltrails. It provides info on parks, walking/biking trails, and hiking trails. It's pretty useful if you're into doing stuff like that.

I think I'm going to have to move to Springfield or Fitchburg at this point.

The trend lately has been seeing places closing up shop. It's nice seeing a place opening to a big crowd. Good luck to them!

Everyone in the state should be thankful Joe Petty lost that state senate primary. He's such a slimy buffoon.
