All over the country. Not just Amazon either. A lot of these big corporations seem to be making huge promises for how many jobs they'll create in order to get concessions, then they only deliver a fraction of them.

The worst part is that Worcester shut down a mixed used building project in the Greendale plaza for that stupid warehouse. Basically everyone was calling it out on the local sub that we didn't need any more Amazon locations, but the city let them start the project anyway. It was always going to be a shit location for all that extra traffic, too, which is why the Greendale Mall was never very good to begin with.

Have you tried talking to the town about it? Your building may or may not be zoned as a commercial space. But if they're using a work permit to run the place, then they're probably not following all the rules for whatever type of shop they're running down there anyway. Contact your town's housing and health departments to see what they have to say about it.

Unfortunately, this probably won't go over well with the landlord or their employees, but your options right now only seem to be to fight them on it or move. If you have the money, it may even be worth it to consult a lawyer to see if you could be entitled to compensation.

Builders are also going to pull back if prices really start dropping. The idea that the free market and some zoning ordinances are going to fix this is ridiculous. This has gone on for way, way too long without the government directly investing in low-income housing. Obviously subsidizing rents ain't working.

You may have screwed yourself by pleading out, I didn't catch that. I'm no lawyer though.

As for the court, it's actually the opposite here. It's directly under the RMV and has no connection to the rest of the state court system. Which makes them hell to deal with, since they don't have any real oversight, so they do what they want. You're probably going to need a lawyer, unless someone with power takes pity on you.

Sorry my state fucked you over!

There was actually a scandal around this several years ago that caused the head of our RMV to step down. They were keeping absolute shit records on out of state infractions for years. Basically just stuffing them in a filing cabinet and forgetting them.

I know there's a court system under the RMV, not sure why they told you that you can't file for an appeal. They're notoriously hard to deal with on stuff like this. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to hire a lawyer to help sort this out. Maybe try contacting both states' AGs too. Or your state rep and senator.

Especially since he's only suspended, and not even necessarily removed as a mod. There's a hierarchy between the mods' authority over the sub, so with the head mod being inactive, he will have direct power over them.

Pretty much everyone making under $80k is getting priced out of Worcester. There's not even that many places in the entire county that are affordable for people who aren't making $30+/hour.
