No, there are no bad parts.

Stratford is next door and is FFC, but the taxes are much higher than in Milford and it’s arguably a more blue collar town. Lord$hip is on the water and beautiful, and there are great neighborhoods in the north end (check out Beaver Dam area). Everything in between is kind of meh, and parts of the south end (success village) suck. That said, I would not hesitate if you can afford one of its “nice” neighborhoods.

Then there’s Shelton and Trumbull if you want a more rural lifestyle.

Fairfield is beautiful if you can afford it.

This is a restaurant atop the sea wall in Stratford, CT to give you some idea.

More touristy places (e.g. Mystic) will cost a bit more.

I concur with everyone else. Connecticut is a fantastic place to live, but not much of a vacation destination for a young couple who have never been to the U.S.

If shoreline is what you’re after, you want to be on the Atlantic and not Long Island Sound.

You really need a car in CT, but you’re too young to rent one. (Last I knew you had to be 25.)

Literally just finished a BJs chicken with the family. Tasted great.

Might be I’m a weirdo, but I like to wash my hands really well and then just rip off the meat and put into a serving dish. Carving is too much work for a chicken. Ensures no waste, anyway.

> The melon heads live on the outskirts of town on heavily wooded country roads, known as melon head roads. Zion Hill Road, for example, is Milford’s melon head road. Saw Mill City Road is Shelton’s. The melon heads also supposedly live on the outskirts of Monroe, Stratford, Seymour, Weston, Easton, Oxford, Southbury, Fairfield, New Haven and Trumbull.

Some nice areas in BPT (e.g. Black Rock)

If I were young and starting out, I’d rather live by myself in Bridgeport than with a roommate in Stamford.

Every city has bad areas.

If not dead-set on city life, Milford, Stratford, Shelton are all nice places to live. Commute to Stamford sucks, though, if that’s where you work. Ditto from Bridgeport. 30 mins is your absolute best case scenario.

My most recent loan is from 2018.

1.99% from First Connecticut CU. At the time their website was offering closer to 3%, so AAA must have enough buying power to negotiate rates we can’t get on our own.

Yeah, good days… I feel for you guys having to borrow right now!
