Buddy, DC can kill you just as dead as AC.

Interestingly enough, that article does provide an Edison connection, but only an indirect one. The company that filmed the electrocution was Edison's film company, and supposedly the elephants owners were inspired to use electrocution by the animal electrocution that Edison did arrange, years earlier.
It's an interesting article, while still short. I recommend anyone interested give it a read.

Damn! Bamboozled by Edison again!
Edit: some quick and dirty research brings up that it was indeed a Dentisr guy who invented the chair. Edison did apparently quietly finance its creation though, on the condition it used AC.
Also found out the Dentist was from Buffalo, the city I live in the area of. This is... odd to think about.

Honestly, the Elephant thing always struck me as odd, considering that Edison DID invent the electric chair. One would think that killing humans with AC to scare people would be more horrifying than supposedly killing an elephant to do so.

It's always fun to come into this sub, and see the pinned post specifically telling people to take the negativity elsewhere, and then scroll down furthur and see the negative comments just... sitting there.
At least the headline is nice. Tech continues to advance, evidence continues to become impossible to ignore, eventually humanity WILL get a handle on climate change. I firmly believe it.

People enjoy pointing at all the reasons they are doomed. That way, if they are right, they can say "I told you so" and if they are wrong, they lose nothing.
Nothing frees a person of the burden of responsibility better than being convinced that everything is doomed and therefore nothing matters.

Reply to comment by NaCly_Asian in Xi calls for unity as China enters new phase of COVID policy by Smithy2232
I do believe a lot of the current criticism of the CCP from their citizens is based both on the speed of the reversal, which was a problem, but more than that, the criticisms I have seen have revolved mostly around d the fact that despite two years having passed, their medical system seems just as unprepared as they were at the start of things. Almost like they spent a ton of money on new ways to track and surveil their populace, and on expanding their military so they can beat their chests and claim to stand up to the big bad US, as opposed to preparing their nation for the realities of living with Covid.

Reply to comment by medfreak in Jordan king warns of 'red lines' in Jerusalem as Netanyahu returns to office by Pilast
Hey, I an just going by the article itself, wherein the Jordanian king mentions that Jews being allowed to pray on the Temple Mount is one of the Red Lines.
I see no mention of demolishing the third most holy Muslim site, merely of Jewish prayer at the 1st most holy site in Judaism?
Elipses_ t1_j214rln wrote
Something that I can't help but wonder, why is the idea of allowing Jews to pray at their most holy site such a red line? As far as I can see, there isn't any talk of forbidding Muslims from getting to do so, just of allowing Jews to do so as well.
