Thank you for that glimpse back into history. I feel bad in retrospect, for having simply gone with 'conventional wisdom', if there's even a chance that I've simply repeated a rumor.

At least in the memorable past it was home to (or maybe a branch or local chapter of) the North American Man Boy Love Association, although the Wikipedia page does not mention that.

But when you do have 'thunder snow' the lightning effect is truly awesome. I've experienced thunder snow twice in the past 50 years in NW Vermont. It does happen, apparently in very rare meteorological circumstances.

Dead Creek, Green River Res, extreme south end of Shelburne bay all come immediately to mind.

Off the top of my head, Green River Res (N of Morrisville) and Colchester Pond (Colchester, N of Essex Junction) come to mind. You might also check listings for 'quiet' water in the Vermont parks listings.

I would tend towards not. We're generally very tolerant of 'others', but there are in fact pockets of intolerance throughout the state. Please don't come here to be 'white'.

I know where this car is, just need to get you a pic. In Johnson, there is a car (make, model, year all N/A) COMPLETELY covered in stickers. It's actually amazing. I'll try to get a pic next trip through the town, or anyone in Johnson reading this must know the car, and they should feel free to post said photo. Last house on N side of Main Street (Rt 15) before the creek/stream/river passes under 15 just west of the food market/liquor store.

I just had my Barbour jacket refinished (rewaxed). Said jacket is 40+ years old, has had 80,000+ miles of motorcycling in all sorts of weather, and is still in excellent condition. Having said that, and read the other comments, it's very probable that that level of quality has diminished considerably. Good luck with your bag, OP.

You might find Glerups fit the bill. I'm old, with wide prone to ache feet, and the Glerups (felted, with leather or rubber soles) are excellent to me.

My P-38 (and another 'souvenir') came back from RVN with me in 1969, and is still used regularly.
