If this was on Netflix it'd be streaming #1 right now. This show was a pleasant surprise. It took me 2 episodes to realize it's not a murder mystery, the mystery lies in how she catches them. It's a fresh take in the genre for sure.

EDIT: Yes....I know it is very similar to Columbo. I knew that before I wrote the comment. When I say "fresh", I mean relative to the other "murder mystery" options out there today.

The good thing about White Lotus is that the actual story is relatively simple, so it might not need years to develop. It's all about the characters, and Mike White seems to have a good ability to create interesting characters that people enjoy watching interact with eachother.

And they shouldn't fully lean into it. That would be no better than the cop propaganda these police procedurals used to be. It would just be the other extreme. The mixed bag approach of portraying both good and bad cops is better IMO.

Anytime someone talks about cop shows feeding "copaganda", I wonder if they are actually watching said cop shows. I hear this said a lot about SVU, but anybody who actually watches SVU these days would know that in recent seasons the show has made a point to highlight police corruption. They do not paint cops as being perfect. They show some stories of cops being the hero of the story, and some of them being the villain.
