Conan Gray? Had to look him up . . .He's pretty . . . . MID. Nothing special to me. Honestly one of those artists I'd never assume was uhm . . . anyone's FAVORITE or even Top 5? but uh... okay.

But uhm, yeah get the hell away from Vincent. Musical elitism isn't where it's at.

If you want to keep the friendship going and not be as aggressive as I would be then idk...

Maybe when you hang out with him give hints you're not into it. " Can we listen to something else? This one isn't the vibe. " ---- " ah, I'm pretty exhausted by Conan Gray. Pretty burned out." ---- " Let's look for something new. "

If he wants to double down or pick a fight over it ... then just say you're glad Mid-level e-twink beats are worth fighting over. Maturity shouldn't get in the way of his ego and golf-clap for him.

Florence + the Machine's song " Patricia " is about Patti Smith.

More so about some words of wisdom Patti gave to Florence, " All doors are open to the believer " , where Florence seemingly tells a man what she thinks about him and his toxic behavior.

and that while it can be a terrifying thing to love, it's a wonderful thing to love.

Maybe it's her cold shoulder nature of her PUBLIC IMAGE?

( She is a person and only human though. She is known to have a very sweet side to her. But I think she plays the resting bitch face diva that people want and expect from her image from time to time.

People want that materialistic, gold digging, grab the bag starlet she portrayed early on. )

Like I said I answered my own question.

But given what cinema and television did for music in past generations, I think the answer is yes? ( I think you thought you had something, but let's be real. Netflix is a huge platform and Stranger Things is their biggest show? )

Social media aided its longevity and numbers perhaps but it would've happened regardless. Plenty of songs have blown up from being used in shows and commercials.

I mean look at Lizzo.

The plagiarism and look theft will be hard to find out. Just as a warning.

But yeah " Do What U Want With My Body " she went out of her way to work with R. Kelly was already dragged through the dirt less than a decade before and had been dragged even up to that point as a meme for being caught on tape urinating on a minor.

She went out of her way to work with him when he had + 30 charges INCLUDING trafficking.

Plus she was besties with Terry Richardson until he FINALLY got blacklisted for real a few years ago. He was a big photographer who had a long list of +30 accusations himself.

That stuff should be easy to find. As well as some of the other stuff if you google her lawsuit with her assistant. For some reason a lot of her claims didn't raise worry at the time because everyone was kissing her ass making her out to be a saint.

Anyway have a good New Year yourself.

I think it hurts a little bit . . . because it used to be the radio . . . which people still hunted for music at shops and such and wouldn't listen to the same stations?

But now it's becoming whatever is on Tiktok or makes the memes or like you said they're told to listen to?

It's not a 100% this is now that, situation but things AID in certain behaviors.

There is no bullshit, I just don't want to deal with you if you're going to behave like a fucking clown.

Especially since it's a long amount of bullshit if I actually type out the detail and meat of it all. It's PARAGRAPHS and I'm not going to fuck with it if you're just going to go " Teehee TLDR; buy her shitty album on iTunes "

So here is the bare-bones NO DETAIL - NO EXPLANATION list of things.

  • Sold out, stole someone else's image/look from hair to clothing and not even changing the poses during early era.
  • Plagiarized music multiple times
  • Lied about her past to get credibility / relatability from her " freak fans " to fit in as an outsider and has lied multiple other times.
  • Has went OUT OF HER WAY to work with KNOWN, proven sex offenders to be controversial MORE THAN ONCE.
  • Risked the safety of her assistants amongst known sex offenders.
  • Was successfully sued for mistreating her assistants.
  • Assistants have alleged she has tried to have them sleep in the same bed.

Like I said, great technique. But as an actual sound does her voice have anything special about it? Or does it sound like plenty of other people and she just has more skill and ability with it?

and . . .you really want me to go into this?

If I do you're not going to be some super defensive Gaga stan who comes up with an excuse for everything and tries to make me out to be a hater when YOU asked? ( everytime I spill, someone gets defensive )

Because I stand by everything I'm going to say and they always want to argue with me to change my mind OR they want to deny everything because they like drinking the cult Koolaid. Which . . . they can do them? I don't care what someone I don't know is into or what they support.

I'd say Florence is the queen of ballads. From " Over The Love " and " No Light No Light " all the way to " End of Love " and " Jenny of Oldstones " so for the sake of me NOT listing a hundred Florence songs . . . I'll leave Florence's catalog of stunning ballads out.

NO ORDER

  • MacArthur Park - Donna Summer ^(( stunning inflection, gorgeous nuanced vocals) )
  • Summer Wine - Lana Del Rey ^(( Is this a ballad? I'm not sure but I've always loved this song.) )
  • Forever For Now - LP
  • Version of Me - KIMBRA
  • This Woman's Work - Kate Bush ^(( Arguably the greatest song of all time) )
  • Sally's Song - Fiona Apple
  • Be My Last - Utada Hikaru
  • Stepping Stone - Duffy
  • Hardest of Hearts - Florence + the Machine ^(( I let one slip. I'm in no way saying this is the best one of hers but It's underrated. ))
  • Writer in the Dark - Lorde

I guess it depends on the performances and perspective? I don't feel like I've seen too many where she seemed odd but I purposely avoid ones people label with her being high / on drugs. I don't want to see her like that because that's someone who had a lot to offer and I'm not going to let that detract from her legacy for me.

I always wished Amy, Duffy and Paloma could've done something together as the women dominating that soulful vintage R&B sound.

I like opera but . . . I only half agree with your ending statement.

There are some people who are breathy and crooning and it works. IT's a choice and that make it work and it genuinely sounds good.

But if every song you make is a mumbled, washed out, formulated hipster rerun of what you've already done a dozen times I'm sick of it.

Lady Gaga is overrated ( a terrible person as well ) . . .

Every choir has around 3 girls who sound somewhere inbetween Gaga - Lea Michelle and Demi Lovato and they don't have the largest difference between their voices as is anyway. ( The only thing that makes her special isn't so much being special it's just she has good technique? )

and she is a highly questionable / bad lyricist.

People who like " The Vocal Trinity " ( Mariah - Celine - Whitney Houston )

They don't actually like or enjoy music as much as they like to argue that their favorite singer is better than yours.

It is an amazing cover and song . . . but . . .

Florence + The Machine - " I Don't Wanna Know ( Mario Winan ) "

Florence + the Machine - " Oh Darling ( The Beatles ) "

KIMBRA - " Plain Gold Ring " ( Nina Simone )

Annie Lennox - " Under Pressure " ( Queen x Bowie )

Aretha Franklin - " Natural Woman " ( Carole King )

I mean . . . it has some competition. More than I could name.
