I don’t think Pablo Honey is all that bad in a vacuum. I think it’s like a lot of ‘pretty good’ albums, full of hits and misses.

However…we can agree to disagree on that. I do think Blow Out would have been even better and a standout on The Bends if it had been saved and recorded (possibly minor rework) during that session. Just a hypothetical.

What’s so ‘great’ about Creep is that it’s easily accessible by a large cross-section of society. I don’t think discerning listeners think it’s all that great. The song itself, pretty good and catchy. Several notches down from most of their work. It’s not at the bottom, but probably lowest quarter.

Define ‘current artists’. There are some acts still making music that will definitely be known as legends, so are we talking about acts that began in the last 10, 20, 30 years?

The Beatles and Elvis are very different, but their cultural impact will likely never be met or exceeded by another act in our lifetime. So if that is the criteria, probably not.

You are going to see a lot of comments on the internet that are made by those that make you question the right to free speech.

This one is so clearly disproven by even a cursory look at modern music, that I won’t even waste my time with it.

I think my list is pretty solid, but I pulled it from another post I made with a different purpose. Also, it’s my list so it’s biased towards my preferences. For a more global resource, try the ranked list below. This is the best list of top albums I’ve seen, and it spans a lot of genres.

I didn’t look at your list too closely at first, but I just came back to this and would offer a couple of suggestions if that’s okay.

Regarding Pink Floyd: If you are going to listen to three Pink Floyd albums, choose Dark Side of the Moon, Wish you Were Here, and Animals. Probably in that order. If you don’t like Dark Side…I guess don’t bother with the others. But that album is probably the single greatest of all time when considering both quality AND accessibility. So you will probably like it.

Radiohead, The Beatles and Pink Floyd are arguably the 3 best acts ever (I said arguably, clearly there are many others in the conversation).

So I might save those albums until the latter half of your listening.

Maybe start with The Eagles and 2Pac albums.

Some people like Linkin Park, but if you don’t like the first album you listen to, I wouldn’t even bother with the next, it will sound pretty much the same.
