Look man, I agree with all the issues towards this event. But do not get into comparing the beer between 902 and Departed Soles. It's just not a thing you can say with a straight face unless you're gluten free

An eyesore?
Sure, a park would of course be preferable but I'd take the existing powerhouse over the urby or any other nearby high rise.

People who are thinking of investing in property and go "oh strangers on the internet will help me with this multiple hundreds of thousands investment" legitimately baffle me.
And the thing is it has to work sometimes otherwise people would stop doing it. Drives me nuts.

If you've ever tried to get anything approved in this city you know this to be true

I was walking in the crosswalk as I had the light the other day and got yelled at by a car for slowing them down as they turned right on red. Was completely thrown off by that.

I'd been wondering what the deal with that place is. There was some concrete delivered outside of it and moved recently but I haven't seen any actual work in forever

I really enjoy Cellar so I'm interested to see what comes of this. I also liked the old version, but I'm a sucker for a coctail bar.

Go call your friends or your mom. Everyone has their oh shit moment when they move out for real for the first time.
You just sound like a confused 22 year old.

Gotta be honest, most of the stuff you said sounds like you dislike your neighborhood.

His summary was really good. It does basically come down to do you want the real estate backed candidates or the teachers union backed candidates. Choose your fighter.

How exactly do you imagine the state taking over would work?
Right now there are what 300k residents and maybe 30k vote in local elections? I don't know either of those numbers but it's roughly to scale.
So with that level of engagement small scale change is still incredibly difficult to come by in this city, but could legitimately be done with some organization. Its doable to win elections without crazy money.
Instead you want to give power to the state, where the representatives are largely not from here and are not elected by us, the residents. Do you know who could give a single fuck about Jersey City tax rates? The representative from south jersey.
This is a terrible idea, full stop.
Go register yourself to run for city council.

Yea the state of NJ is historically known as a fiscally responsible enterprise...
All of your points are valid, these tax increases are wild. The state taking over would fix none of that.
