My first year with Comcast, my bill was under $70 for everything (internet and cable with all the premium channels). Now I’m at over $140 for internet and their second tier cable. I call every year trying to get a better rate (doing the whole cancel script) and this year they told me the best deal they could give me was over $200. When I reminded them that was more than I currently pay, they suggested I see if I qualify for the low income credit to try and lower my bill.

I hate Comcast, but it’s the only reliable provider in my area so I’m screwed.

I used to do this too, but their phone tree now aggressively pushes you back to the AI chat even if you try all the cancelling tactics. Once you get routed to a person, it’s likely not the right one, at which point the aggressive push toward the chatbot comes back.

It’s awful.

This was my experience last month trying to cancel my service. It was absolutely horrible. Even when you call them, they try and push you back to the chatbot. I’m a pretty patient person, but I went the route of yelling at the phone tree for a person after a while.

When I was a kid, I won two goldfish at the carnival. I was so excited to put them in my dad’s fish tank at home. He was less thrilled about my “poopy goldfish” living in his nice tropical tank. Eventually he caved, because I assume my mom pointed out that a happy wife and kid were more important than his fish tank. Plus “they were just carnival fish so they’d probably die soon anyway,” he said. Those goldfish ended up living for years, including making it through a move to a new house and a new tank. When the last one finally died he was far too big to flush. I asked my dad what he did with it, and he said he just threw it out for the birds. Little me was heartbroken, but my dad hated those goldfish all the way to the end.

I've noticed it with my 14 Pro as well.

I usually see it with my podcasting app and only notice when my phone throws an alert saying charging will resume when the phone temperature returns to normal.

My old phone was a XS and started getting them frequently around iOS 16 as well, but that seemed reasonable because it was an older device and I would get them when it was being put in strenuous situations (like being used in the sun in the car for GPS and music).

Seeing it on my 14 Pro, while it's charging in my 68 degree office that's no where near sun while just listening to a podcast seems like a flaw.
