Is owning a pet pig becoming increasingly more common?

I'd be curious to know what the laws are in various countries. I recall reading a story (Australia I believe) where a guy owned a pet sheep but was forced to give it up as sheep are only bread for food and not to be used for anything else.

Why has it taken light 13 billion years to reach us?

Wouldn't that indicate that, for 13 billion years, the distance between us and that light source has been expanding at almost the speed of light since the very beginning?

The Andromeda galaxy is expected to collide with the Milky Way in approximately 4.5 billion years. Does this time take into account the expansion of space in between the two galaxies?

>How do these instruments perform beyond a scientists expectations.

Expectations does not equal capability. These instruments aren't working better than they are capable of, that would be impossible. However, there's a lot of variables that may alter the capabilities of these instruments (think vibrations of rocket, deployment, insertion accuracy that can alter the performance of these instruments etc) and it turns out that those variables had minimal impact.

>Cancer survival rates have been improving for decades.

That's not really in question. Improvements in health and cancer treatments have definitely improved.

But I agree with the OP. It's the periodical headline of "New treatment may cure cancer" nonsense that seems to go nowhere. It's great that they are trying their best. But I feel like it provides a lot of people with false hope.

Having had two relatives die from cancer, one of them in a fairly horrendous way and whom begged to be a participant in such trials, seeing headlines like this is nice but I generally don't give them much thought anymore beyond reading the comments section.

What is the problem with vertical farming?

I keep reading about all the pros. It's significantly less resource intensive (especially when it comes to the very limited amount of water that's available). Takes up significantly less realestate. Is seemingly simply to control and maintain. So, what's stopping it from becoming mainstream?
