He was a little bit red. He was of mixed race. Malcolm X mentions him in his autobiography; at the time, he called himself "Chicago Red".

Happened to Dick Shawn, too. His magnum opus was as Sylvester in "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World".

"Give me the bad news first."
"You have dementia. You know what that means. Memory loss, confusion, and eventually, complete loss of identity and control over bodily functions".
"Geez, that's rough. What's the good news?"
"Other than the dementia, you're in perfect health. You'll probably live to 100".
"Great! What's the bad news?"

Yes, he showed us those same 2 pictures. As he flipped the projector back and forth, he pointed out the one that jumped back and forth. That was it.

I had the good fortune to be at NMSU at the same time as Dr. Tombaugh. I don't think he was on the faculty, I think he just lived in Las Cruces, but why wouldn't he be at the astronomy department all the time. I attended on of his last lectures, and he was "on". He must have been 150 years old, badly hunched over with osteoporosis, but his mind and his voice were still strong, and he gave a lively and fascinating lecture on the search for Pluto - one of the highlights of my time there.

Not only did he fail to act, he anticipated that there would be secular law enforcement investigations, and he threatened to excommunicate, not anybody who was found to have committed the alleged acts, but anybody who "talked".
Edit: the Vatican actually made that threat as early as 1962:

New Mexico, which has one of the highest rates of drunk driving, is one of the states where these were outlawed a long time ago. Not surprisingly, the rate of drunk driving was unaffected. It's almost as if they had nothing to do with it. As my dad would say, "It's the Catholics. Of course, they have their wine, so screw everybody else."

I've never understood the whole "obtaining loans fraudulently" thing. How do you benefit? Don't you have to pay them back? Do people figure they can invest the money and make more than the interest they're paying? Has that ever actually happened?

I once went swimming at the beach. I got too far out and I couldn't make it back, so I started yelling for help. The lifeguard swam out and said, "Hey! Hold it down!" - Rodney Dangerfield

There was a mention of this in "Enterprise". The inhabitants of one planet or another were unhappy that Archer didn't reset Enterprise's clock to match their capital city. I think it was the episode where he ended up cutting up a tree while covered with mud as an apology for something else they did.

Back in the late '80s, one of the refiners had a bunch of winter gas left over in the spring, so they just shipped it to the Albuquerque, NM area. All summer, everybody had problems with rough running, vapor lock, etc. The refiner just did that insincere, "Ha. Sorry, dude".

TIL that Yeager wasn't catching at the time of the mishap, he was on deck! I was in 5th grade when this happened, and it was the talk of the schoolyard, but I didn't see it.
So my question is this: how would a throat guard on a catcher's mask have protected him if he was on deck?

It's also huge, so it has an enormous area. That means it's moving a lot of air, and thrust is a function of how much air you move, and how hard you move it.

Well, you know, if you watch those super slo-mo videos of bird strike tests, you'll see that the first fan makes a pretty good food processor.
