Reply to LPT: It's only a harmless prank/practical joke if everyone is laughing at the end by bozitybozitybopzebop
I know a guy who showed up for a dinner party with a potted plant as a gift to his hosts. After dinner he started to give it a lot of attention, and then began eating the soil out of the pot. Everybody freaked out, but it turned out to be chocolate cake rather than soil. And, in the end, everyone was laughing.
These videos online, on the other hand, that end with the perp telling the angry victim, "It's a prank, bro!", are freaking obnoxious. Yeah, I know it's a prank. You're a dick.

No, it's The Arches, the row of condos that look like Monopoly hotels. (to me, anyway). So when you're going up 22nd, they're on your left after you pass Arch.
SLA was catty-corner from this site (of The Arches and formerly the Electric Factory), on the southeast corner. They seem to have moved, though. I think they're at the main school district building on North Broad.

They got the idea to open the Electric Factory when they saw how well The Trauma did at 2121 Arch, half a block away. The Trauma was open from early 1967 to early 1968, and hosted acts that included the Velvet Underground, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, 1910 Fruitgum Company, Todd Rundgren, the Small Faces, and Lothar and the Hand People. In the 1980s it became Memphis, and more recently it has been the Greene Towne Montessori School.

Northwest corner. This picture was taken from 22nd street; on the left is the view down Arch, with 30th Street Station visible in the background.

That phenomenon does happen -- for example, "the Art Museum area" was a euphemism for "Fairmount" before Fairmount was gentrified -- but Port Richmond and Fishtown are distinct neighborhoods. I remember people saying they were from each of those places back in the '70s.

Something like 20 million bibles are sold each year. But I guess they consider the various editions different books.
edit: why is this being downvoted? I'm not trying to sell you a bible. I don't even believe in any of that stuff. I just want us all to recognize the truth. Which is that the bible is the best-seller. People say it's the best-selling book of all time, but it's actually the best-selling book of the year, every year. Including 1981.

I had a drink up there with my family. The drink wasn't crazy expensive. I think it was like eight dollars for a beer. Which is like a six dollar beer and two dollars for the view. I consider it a bargain.

Yes, if we have to lose one or the other, we should lose the United States.
I think we will lose the United States, and we might eventually lose Olympia and even USS New Jersey as well. Saving the United States is an uphill battle in an environment where other ships that are better preserved struggle to stay afloat. That's why I said in my original message that it seems unlikely the SS United States can be saved.
My point is just that there's a difference between saying "This historic ship will, sadly, probably not be preserved" (which makes you a realist) and saying "I can't wait until the former flagship of the American merchant fleet, the finest ocean liner ever built in the USA, is sunk!", which makes you, in my view, a piece of shit.

Reply to The SS United States by Nishamon
I'm mystified by the people who show up in threads about the SS United States to say it should be destroyed. I imagine they'd say that the Uptown Theater should be torn down, and until a few years ago would say the same thing about the Divine Lorraine or the Met.
It certainly seems unlikely that the Big U will be saved, and if it can, the best place for it would be New York, which was always its home port. For the foreseeable, it's just Philadelphia's biggest abandoned vehicle. But it's historically important, as the fastest ocean liner ever built, and one of the very few that still exist. And it's beautiful.

Maybe a better way of saying the same thing is that dinner companions should think of the table's order as a whole, since you often share a taste of what you got.
I've certainly said to my wife, "if you get X, I'll get Y, and we can trade". And I certainly eat more than she does. But this is in the context of us each eating as much as we care to.

I didn't think you'd need those things to renew. Just when you first get the Real ID.
I'd expect you to be good with the expiring (but not yet expired) license and the camera card.
