programming is basically complicated shuffling very complicated bits around. You can describe anything like that; it's what defines intelligence.
Also yeah, there will still be musicians in 5 years, as will there be musicians post-singularity. Some people just really enjoy doing it themselves. Don't see your point there

doubt it. LLMs are quite matured - not in its infancy like AI imagery was at the beginning of 2022. There are improvements to make though!

Monopolizing how? Through... open sourcing?
Regardless, creating high quality pieces of art take years of practice. AI imagery gets rid of that burden.

I guarantee that if an image model that tought itself art existed, artists would react in the same way. It's fine, that's human nature, but does reveal their intentions are not in favor of democratizing access to creative expression.

This is quite intriguing. It ranks in the top 10 percent of participants who played more than one game, which at first glance isn't as impressive as AlphaZero, for example. Then however, you remember that diplomacy requires players to actively converse & cooperate with other players, which sets many variables out of the AI's sphere of influence. I'm not too familiar with Diplomacy, but I imagine the top 1% of players who played more than one game have played only 4-5, and got lucky by winning them all. Feel free to prove me wrong on that, though.
Chances are that this is limited by its language model, a field in which we see rapid improvements every day.
Edit - just want to add that I've been increasingly fond of Meta AI recently. Phenomenal stuff coming from them, and they're open sourcing CICERO.

Yes, people value being valued. However, saying we need to torture ourselves at work to achieve that is society's biggest flaw.

This makes me think of Life 3.0's story of the Omega team. Long story short, a team of dedicated AI researchers manage to create AGI, and huddle in their office for a week to make sure their plan pans out right. First, they make the AI do paid tasks for the omega team on Amazon MTurk, tasks that were previously only able to be done by humans. They earn millions per day, which opens the door to the next phase - Media.
Tasking the AI to create high quality movies & games, the entertainment produced by the AI has managed to top charts worldwide within weeks - public confusion is toned down by elaborate stories the AI made to cover up the huge ploy. There are now dozens of registered companies that are wholly led by the Omega's ASI. New technologies - like batteries with 2x capacity at 1/2 the weight - are brought to the market shocking the entire technological industry. Humanity thinks it's entering the next golden age, but doesn't realize who (or what) is leading it.
Undoubtedly being the most influential people on earth, the Omegas decide to use their exposure to coo everyone to the middle of the political spectrum using its highly optimized psychology tricks, far outperforming the most manipulative people on earth. Political and religious extremism rapidly declines, as does poverty, hunger and illness.
This could all play out in a year or two, maybe less.
Of course, this is highly hypothetical & super optimistic in certain ways. Now imagine what could happen if the wrong people get their hands on AGI.

cool hypothetical situation, but I think that's pretty unlikely. Given its intellect is higher than ours, it would know how to tell us things in the most efficient way - persuading anyone and everyone

For sure. As humans, we tend to focus way more on the negative things - which does save lives. My attitude to futurism is mostly the good parts though, given the good things stick around. The bad parts either kill us all - in which case there's no need to worry - or eventually disappear.

I'm somewhat familiar with bell's theorem, which disproves local determinism. Superdeterminism is what circumvents bell's theorem, no?

im not too sure what superdeterminism is. I do however, not believe in randomness. There can always be some hidden variable that we have not yet found, or are plainly incapable of perceiving, that is controlling seemingly rancom processes.

I'd say that falls under dualism, no? A determinist would heavily disagree - how can you get to two end states with an identical starting condition? To me, theories like those sound more like a gimmick than anything else. Would love to be disproven though
Edit - thinking about it a little more, I'm more sure that that would fall under dualism. A splitting timeline would need a definition of an option, a decision. If i choose ball A over B, that's obviously a decision, but If i let go of a rock, it falling to the ground is not a decision. It will always fall. Where is the line? Is a synthetic neural network with just three neurons making a decision when it goes through a computation cycle? How about organic neural networks with just three neurons? Point I'm getting at, calling a decision a decision is more of a question of being human as opposed to true circumstances.

Personally, I'm a hardcore determinist. The Universe has concrete laws that cannot be broken, and I adhere by them. I can't not! Facing a decision may make me feel like I'm in control, whereas i am in fact not.
Religions / metaphysical beliefs stem from frustration of not understanding something. We don't know all laws of the universe yet, and some people cope by making up their own. If you let go of the frustration at uncertainty, being a determinist is a given - We don't understand consciousness, and we might never.
I am at a loss when it comes to AI rights, though. I can not, in good faith, have a well thought-out opinion given my belief. What do you think?

Take a hike. Just because there's a corporate entity behind an AI division doesn't mean it's garbage. Galactica was a very cool experiment, produces SOTA performances in a ton of usecases, just succumbed to internet trolls and false usecases. Meta AI is cutting edge.
