Ideally he'd release them in an ebook format so at least the stories would be out there without the publisher having to spend time and money on getting the physical book set up. Er, would the format even work in an ebook though, considering how Danielewski's writing is? Anyway, yeah I get it, it's just kinda unfortunate.

Mark Danielewski, author of House of Leaves, had started a series titled The Familiar. He actually did get the first 5 books published, but eventually it was decided that there weren't enough authors to justify publishing the planned 27 BOOK SERIES.

I work at a used book store. I see copies of Volume 1 on the regular, 2 is uncommon, I may have seen 3 once, and I don't know if I've ever seen 4 or 5. House of Leaves was amazing though.

This is more or less what I expected the answer to be, honestly. While there's no universal rule, there are individual rules like that dumb "add a 7 and buffer with 0's" method for the Vintage books mentioned in the main post. Mostly I'm looking to gather the information I couldn't find via google. I'll ask again during tomorrow's Simple Questions post. Thanks for your response though!

How do I convert that to a modern ISBN? If it had a single letter rather than two, I would have a shot at it but as it is, I haven't had luck with double letter codes. I'll take any answers you give though.

What do the older reference numbers mean? How do I convert them to modern ISBNs? Both. Please answer both, I'm dying over here.

I work at a used book store, so reading has pretty clearly been beneficial in that I am more knowledgeable about the product.

Outside of work though, I feel like I catch way more references with the more that I read. Or I'll find some phrase or concept I like and I'll try it in my own writing to see how it feels.

Also it just makes me happy, which translates to performing better at work and at home.

Are you asking me why slave owners forced Christianity on slaves? If that's your questions, how is that possibly showing religion to be a good thing in this context? I might just be misunderstanding the question. And I disapprove of it being on the court walls, it snubs the separation of religion and government. My own beliefs are built on what I see of the world and what I learn from trusted resources, and I am willing to alter my view in light of new information, and do not cling unchangingly to disproven and morally inconsistent religious texts. Without religion there'd be oodles less violence and subjugation in the world. Some still, yes, but oodles less.
