I made a "survival bit" on character AI beta or whatever. It was pretty cool as a novelty, was fun to roleplay disaster scenarios where the internet had crashed society had collapsed and it was my only source of "knowledge" other than my own. While truly a novelty for entertainment value it got me thinking even then, if one has a way to run one locally on a small enough device- like a phone - it really would be a must have/perfect survival tool not just for info on Survival specifically but literally anything/everything available in it's training data.

This was only a few months ago, and I had the thought "wow in my lifetime there's a good chance that could be a reality". Saying that then even felt crazy, but seeing how fr they've been able to come in scaling the size requirement down and getting them to run on essentially something the size of a phone with only losing very little in terms of it's abilities.... It literally puts something like the survival bit "Hope", into tangible grasp likely in the next year or two if not before then.

Maybe I'm being over zealous but I really don't think I am 🤷 lol

You're def not the only one to think about this, and I absolutely have been looking out for this very reason- among others lol

Love this. Would be awesome to see one similar but with a U.S "Small Town Main Street" esque buildings. Same colors/angle though lol I suppose I could try my hand at one but I doubt I have the talent haha this reminds me of a view I used to see so often growing up right when the sun sets JUST behind the horizon, and the whole downtown was lit up orange.

. beautiful!

Lol ok.

I swear some of you just refuse to read at all because you're so comfortable assuming what you think is being said. The arrogance.

Thanks for your thoughts.

The recent fuckin layoffs that have been in the news. That's what I was referencing.

There are some serious fucking idiots on this subreddit. It's a shame what it's turned into as it's grown.

It was a fucking hypothetical question based on the current reality , but I suppose that is just too deep of a process to ask people to engage in here.

You stay safe now.

I assume you skimmed what I wrote and assumed what you thought I was saying.

No. I do not fear AI will take my job. I don't "fear" AI in general. Hence... Me stating that specifically in my OP in an attempt to negate any ambiguity.

Appreciate your input to the conversation though. Really.

If that's the only cause, and again I'm not trying to say it isn't just entertaining the idea as a theory I guess , then one might still anticipate further layoffs at some point do to those sectors condensing as a result of implementing new AI programs - or is the general consensus that despite the ability to perform the tasks of multiple people already just with what's currently released to the public, that despite that companies will not capitalize to "do more with less" and/or condense any applicable jobs.

I'm really not even sure I'm articulating my thoughts well enough here for anyone lol but I am genuinely interested in people's beliefs/ideas about that specifically. Seems like it's a more realistic outcome as opposed to mass u employment due to AI that Imstead we suddenly see a lot of positions requesting ability to use AI and posting less positions as a whole as a result.

I did mention the economy, and while I didn't specifically say as much I meant to allude to the fact that it was the more obvious blatant choice, hence having to essentially ignore that aspect to contemplate the other.

But at some point even if it results in people doing different jobs within the same sector as opposed to losing their jobs, tech depts utilizing any of these newer programs are going to condense in some way right? In your opinion do you think we are still quite far of from that, it is that you don't think the condensing itself will have to happen/is inevitable?

Southside Jeff Davis, Latino market close to Falling creek. Just passed Chippenham. Coming from the city, it will be on the left hand side at the top of the hill once you pass over falling creek and that random 7/11 in the middle of the road. I believe there's a stoplight there, either right at the market or just passed it.

.there are also people who have little hand pushed carts that I know used to push around Bellwood flea market, that served traditional street corn just like you describe. First time I had it here in the states, was from soneone pushing their cart around Shady Hill trailer park. One of the more risky purchases I made I admit lol but honestly was hands down identical to the street corn I had while visiting Mexico.

Wtf this should be it's own post lol had no idea

>Many Richmonders have probably heard of the “beer vaults” that are somewhere under the park, but few know of their history or how extensive they are. A pencil and ink plan from the City Engineer’s office records in the archives of the Library of Virginia shows the position of the vaults and describes their considerable dimensions: six chambers, ranging from 30 to 60 feet long and arranged in a “L” pattern. The vaulted ceilings are approximately twenty feet tall. Considering a GRTC bus is about forty feet long, the large scale of these underground rooms is truly impressive.

>An octagon sketched in pencil over the vaults presumably indicates the position of the park house directly above the brick rooms, which are drawn in red. An elaborate stairway with landings once served as access to the two entrances. The plan also notes the locations of a public spring (which still exists) below the park house, and a horse trough, both of which were to provide refreshment to horses and men making their way up the switchback road that wound between Fulton and Broad Street. The road is labeled “30 Foot Road Leading to Tunnel,” a reference to the famous Church Hill railroad tunnel which collapsed in 1925.

That really does sound massive

I really want to know if it, or similar LLM, could be used to help translate archeological texts. There are so many ancient texts that we have translated just due to man power - it's tedious. Then there are the languages we don't even really know, they've been lost to history, but I really do wonder if LLMs could either be trained, or already as trained, be a way to address those too

I'm blue/green colorblind, I can see both blue and green fine lol it's not as I guess "severe" as other colorblindness? But colors that are very similar usually like yellows and oranges, or sometimes browns and reds and oranges, purples and blues really fuck with me they all just kinda blend together in those closer shades. Usually it really doesn't even pop out or cause an issue or anything though

So anyway it's weird, the two on the right are completely grey almost silvery grey, the two on the left are grey but at the very top kind of light blue/blueish grey that fades into th same grey as the others after the first few scribbles (assuming you started at the top and moved down each time) If these are indeed all very green in appearance to everyone else then this is one of the few times where I'm actually surprised at the color it's supposed to be, and that's kind of cool lol
