There was at least one piece of the meteor that reached the ground and was found near El Sauz Texas

That was its estimated size and weight before entering the Earth's atmosphere. It broke apart at an altitude of 21 miles according to this Facebook post that contains the full NASA statement.

That's because Orion is travelling to where the moon is going to be, not where the moon currently is.

Axiom is planning to use the ISS as a starting point for their new space station. Axiom's first module is planned to launch in late 2025 and will dock to the forward port of the Harmony module of the ISS. The second, third, and fourth modules are planned to launch in 2026, 2027 and 2028 respectively. Then the Axiom segment will separate from the ISS and become its own modular space station.
