I mean, it's kind of nice for a change to see the workers getting the money. Usually the pension system shortages stem from politically connected fund managers mismanaging the funds, taking crazy commissions, funding BS shit that doesn't make money, etc.

They don't pay enough to get those people. These jobs just aren't valued, and increasing funding for these things doesn't get you the political benefits (newspaper stories, TV hits, etc) that increasing the police budget or education budget does. So politicians ignore infrastructure until the bad stories about shit falling apart get so terrible that they need to do the minimum to get those stories to stop.

Go west or north of the city. Anywhere pretty much will have plenty of hills.

Different things through my career. Marine biology with plants mostly, also oysters for a while. Chasing that grant money.

I'm a scientist, have been one for so long that I'm about to retire. In over 30 years as one I've never once heard another scientist mention it or anything like it.

You will probably do better with posts like these if you try deeper in Trump country. Still tons of fireflies in these parts, and bugs on our windshields. Not so much in the winter though, give it a few months.

I have tons of great suggestions. I know a spot on the lower Potomac where you can snorkel in 4' of water and find a legal bushel in a few minutes. I've got a spot in Worchester County where you can walk a beach at low tide and barely get your feet wet while harvesting your legal limit. Of course I'm never telling my spots to anyone. I don't imagine you'll find anyone willing to give up their spots.

The Ever Forward hit an old named oyster bar, but it didn't hit an oyster bed. See this report from June 2022.

Don't waste your time off Gibson Island. No oyster spat have been seen above the Bay Bridge in over a decade.
Maryland's history with oystering had legislators (who make most of the oyster rules) always favoring watermen over recreational harvesters. It's been that way for many generations. Many books out there if you want to learn more about how it came to be that way. It was so bad that it wasn't legal to start a new lease to grow your own oysters until 2009.

Unless you are a diver or you have hand tongs you are stuck walking shorelines on the lower eastern shore. Dorchester and Wicomico County. It's not a practice encouraged by the state so make sure to read the regulations on the DNR web page.

What actions do you take when you are sleeping and an alert pops up? Do you head outside and look for the vehicle? If not, fuck that kid huh?

I sell a lot of, uh, plants. CL and FB are pretty much where the action is these days. Take some great pictures and be patient. Cash only, local sale only, first come first served with no exceptions and you can probably sell them. They are beautiful plants for sure!
Oh, and believe it or not a lot of expensive plants are listed and sold through E-Bay. This usually involves shipping the plants, so I have avoided this route.

Park at the Woodstock Inn and you have trails in both directions on both sides of the Patapsco River, with a beer and a good burger waiting when you get back to your car. It's only about 15 minutes from the beltway and you have over 100 miles of trails to choose from. You can walk from there up to Liberty Dam or all the way down to old Ellicott City.
