Reddit is the only social media I use and even here I only look at 4 or 5 subs.

Stay off of social media.
Problem solved.
Read when you want to and stop when you don’t enjoy it.

Reply to How do you rate your books on Goodreads? by pensieve64
I guess I’m old and outdated. I don’t rate any books online. I keep my opinions to myself. Actually I don’t leave reviews of anything, not restaurants, not movies, not hotels, etc…

They can’t be that popular. I’ve never heard of those books and don’t know what booktok is aside from seeing it referenced here.

Why would you feel guilty for that? That concept never even crossed my mind and I’m over 50.

Yes! His various accents are a very creative way to give characters more individuality. It makes the experience way better than if I read it myself. It almost feels like listening to a movie with a full cast! I remember one book having French, German, Russian, Spanish, British, and Scottish accents all in one book, simply amazing!

Reply to Buy books or borrow from library? by ladyluckyy777
I buy books for several reasons. I like to support authors and publishers. I like to take my time, read at my own pace without a looming deadline. I know I can always simply renew the book at the library, but I still like to think of it as my own instead of borrowing. I almost always trade in books I buy at used book stores, so I’m supporting them too.

Be patient and not in a hurry. Enjoying read means enjoying the experience. Find a book you can savor the experience of reading instead of hurrying to get to the “good stuff”. So, I would say find the right book and also change you outlook on reading.

Yeah, I don’t count Youtube as social media. I just watch and listen but never comment. I don’t watch those Tic Tok copy of “shorts” either.
