Reply to TIL Helen Keller is credited with having introduced the Akita, a Japanese dog breed, to the United States by berkosaurus
Helen Keller was either a fraud or essentially a puppet. Everything she believes has to have come from the exceptionally small number of people who knew how to communicate with her.
And now people are trying to credit her for a dog being brought to the US?
MeanGreanHare t1_jbugqbw wrote
There was a story in the US a while back about someone who bought a historic house. The house was infested with termites and rot. They calculated the costs and found that it would be considerably more expensive to restore it, than to demolish it and build an identical house. The city council wouldn't have it so they're stuck with it unless a mysterious fire happens.

How do they know it's a zombie virus?
Sounds like they made the virus themselves and were sloppy with the logic of the cover-up story.

I wonder where he bought his medical degree.
In Texas there were a lot of nurses who were found to have fraudulently acquired nursing diplomas, and all of them were from Nigeria. I'm betting this is a similar story.

The lesson here is that if you're rich, don't get married. Even if you get a prenup, the other person is still entitled to half of what is earned during the marriage.

If both parties are equally involved in earning that wealth, they can both be entitled to half.
If one earned all the money, and the other earned nothing, the latter should not be entitled to anywhere near half.

It's the immigrant's/tourist's/expat's/visitor's responsibility to observe their surroundings and learn the culture, so that they can avoid egregious mistakes. Locals tend to be understanding of small slip-ups, but they won't be so accepting if someone pisses in the plaza fountain as people tend to do in that person's home country.

The idea that a childcare worker thought blackface is a good way to celebrate black history month would be flipping hilarious if not for the fact that impressionable kids were involved.

If she's been here long enough to be able to get a job in childcare, she's been here long enough to know that blackface pisses a lot of people off.

I understand the part about wanting to ban kids from carrying guns while unsupervised. A kid carrying a gun? questionable. A kid carrying a gun and his or her parents are not around? reckless and potentially dangerous.
My guess is that local governments will pass their own alternatives to this law. Cities and suburban areas, most likely.
I imagine that the article, being from The Guardian, is editorialized with a left-leaning spin on it to make the situation sound a certain way.

Coronavirus is a new form of SARS, which was big news from Asia 20 years ago. Wuhan lab of virology is near what was determined to be ground zero for the virus. There was news about the virus starting to spread in China back in 2019.
Conclusive? Perhaps not. Highly suspicious even to the layman? Absolutely.
