Many people can't play music at a decent level at all times of day, perhaps due to close neighbours or spouses & children. When I started getting noise complaints from a new neighbour I decided to get some adequate headphones (no >£1k yet.) I found that good headphones aren't necessarily "better" than speakers, just different. Clearly the faithfullness of the sound reproduction is closer with speakers but some days I prefer the headphone experience.

That seems very likely, you may have damaged your eardrum and scar tissue has made it less sensitive.

The evidence suggests it is a problem with your ear. Perhaps you had an ear infection and something inside was damaged, maybe you were close to a very loud bang on one side and your eardrum was slightly damaged. Or you may just have one malformed canal/drum/cochlear. Start by using the balance control on your sound source.

I have the HD599SE - the only differences are the colour and the packaging. They are all black and the packaging is plain cardboard. In November Amazon UK sold them for £70 (US$86.) The best value for money EVER! So comfortable and I love the sound.

I considered this but the head-related transfer function would have been badly affected. I stared at the mid-day sun for half an hour. My eyeballs are intact and the money I saved on surgery was spent on a utility pole outside my house with a dedicated transformer to free myself from tainted current.

That would depend on the rabbits' diet. Too many broad-leaf grasses and the lower midrange will be congested at the 254-258Hz range.

I wanted to buy just one DAC/amp and never get into the amp upgrade/sidegrade scene, one unit for the rest of my life that is suitable for all headphones and earbuds. I wanted balanced output for my active speakers. I wanted parametric EQ. I didn't want anything large or showy. That's why I bought mine and I don't regret a single penny.

I came from a Fiio E10k and a Shanling M0. The improvement was, as you can imagine, astonishing. Mindblowing. That's when I started buying more headphones.

I came from a Sansa Clip Plus, the problem I encountered with M0 was no scrolling in the UI - e.g. 4 albums from 1 artist so had to guess which album I was accessing. Of course the UI's have so many different access methods but I'm rather stuck in my ways because I'm old.

Otherwise I really recommend the M0, great sound, size and feel.

There are no compelling reasons for you to choose the M0 pro over the original M0. It's highly unlikely you'll hear a difference or need balanced output. The M0 is a great little thing but the tiny screen can make things difficult - I need to alter my folder & filename structures when I export to it because text doesn't scroll. The Shanling Android app is a great help but very often I just want to turn the phone off and be alone with my tiny music player.

Isolation.

I have great speakers but my wife prefers to watch shitty TV. I can't read when she watches shitty TV. The music she likes on my speakers annoys me. She doesn't like my friends and her friends talk about being close to Jesus and the path to Godliness.

I'm in a fortunate position to be living next door to my wife. She complains that she can hear my speakers.

I love her but I've chosen headphones.
