Reply to comment by GenericReditAccount in Can we lose that "Outside Dining" that takes up all the parking area across the district?! by eablacksmith
Perhaps. But the District also makes a lot of money off taxes from restaurants and bars. A parking space on 18th street generates $2.30/hour for 11.5 hours a day, six days a week. That’s $158.70 a week. Of course there is some overlap, it’s not exact metering, as well as some empty time. Let’s call it $200/week. Now you put four two tops in that space. Much of the day they are empty, of course, but after five you serve ten people. And on Thursday-Sunday you serve twenty people a day. That’s 100 people. Each person spends $25. That’s $2500 in revenue. And $250 in sales tax, from that same space.

Nope. You cannot sign an illegal contract. The law supercedes.

No, it isn’t. Dc code requires 30 days notice only. Prove me wrong. Cite chapter and verse of the DC code that allows for 60 days notice. Please.
Dc code requires 30 days plus the 30 days after the last rent payment is due. So a maximum of 59 days. But please. Cite the DC code that allows for 60 days. Go ahead.

The contract was illegal. You don’t have to. Don’t let predatory landlords win without a fight. If not for you, then for the next guy.

If you don’t pay December rent, what are they going to do, evict you? You won’t live there anymore. You gave them 30 days notice. They’re just bullying you.

Insist on a walk through on your last day with their representative. Take video. If they refuse, note that. And take video of the place anyway. Show everything. Make sure they have your new address. Print this https://www.dcregs.dc.gov/Common/DCMR/RuleList.aspx?DownloadFile=F072555F-0000-C93C-AA3B-E0DC116B10AA and leave it sitting in the middle of the room. (If you really want to flex) they’re bluffing, they won’t actually sue you for it, because they can’t. And if you leave the place in reasonable condition, you’ll get your deposit back, too.

No. If you noticed them on 10/8 of your intent to vacate on 11/30, you are good. Tell them to sue you in landlord tenant court.

You can get a temporary paper one within a week. You can’t fly with it, but you can drive.

Most people don’t pay full fare, if they pay at all. I don’t (mine is paid by my employer, sure I swipe my card, but I don’t pay, many people get it at least pre-tax) only tourists and the poor pay full fare. Do you?

Phone. Headlamp. Someone who knows where you are. You’ll be fine. If you feel really vulnerable, mace in your hand, phone in your pocket. Be smart, if your spidey senses go off, go elsewhere.

Should be. Yes, the Oxte is a good value.
And the frozen crusts have gone to the great demo stand in the sky, I’m sorry to say. They were just too good for this world.

Purple moon Chardonnay exists, the reds have been discontinued. The grifone Sangiovese should come in Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The Primitivo is waiting for a new vintage. The reserves are limited editions, so your particular one may be gone. The current one is Sonoma, and decent.
Call the store of your choice and we’ll be happy to put some aside for you on the next order.

Depends on the wine, of course. They come from seven different distributors (and different stores have different delivery schedules) which wine are you looking for? (I work at one of them, I can get you this answer)
