The expansion has, due to it becoming yet another social media influence battle in the great culture war. Not helped by idiots like Jordan Peterson stoking boomer fears.
But the first congestion charge, the LEZ, the first two ULEZ zones? They went through. And this expansion will too, and it won't take years like in NY.

Pathetic. In London and other progressive, forward thinking cities, congestion pricing has been a thing for decades now.
This summer London is implementing a ULEZ congestion charge for the most polluting vehicles for the entire Greater London area, more than 600 square miles.
New York cannot even get it together for a fucking tiny area of Manhattan - no wonder this city is considered so non-functional and backwards. Cars being put before making this city a pleasant, healthy place to live for people, as usual.

What's amusing (but at times enraging) to me having moved here from a city that is genuinely developing public transport and mass transit and deprioritising inefficient, antisocial and destructive personal transport is not only the ridiculous amount of public space and subsidies given to the latter, not only the absolutely pathetic state of public transport in most of the other 4 boroughs, but the bizarre American mentality that is terrified of improvement if it means losing any of this artificial "freedom" that the oil and motor industry have conditioned so many people to believe they have. In a city like New York. I almost feel sorry for them.

Are you sure? Because the carbrained performative concern trolls here keep pushing the line that making the streets more pleasant, safe and accessible will leave the disabled housebound and unable to move their fridges back and forth between midtown and East Queens.

Lol, between "only the rich can walk" and "you're just jealous you're to poor to own a car", between "we need fewer bike lanes to reduce traffic" and "my elderly one-legged nan needs to drive to midtown on a weekly basis to move her furniture" - these carbrains are really starting to lose the plot over these positive changes.
Get some fresh air away from sitting in traffic huffing exhaust fumes 3 hours a day, it might do you guys some good.

Who gives a fuck about parking spaces? These should be on every block.

All city subs seem to have these cringe tourist posts. And they always get upvoted because they make the people living there feel good about themselves.
