I read the Amberbbooks waaaaay long ago, so my memory may be suspect. But I recall Corwin seeming generic, just sort if narrating events without a distinct personality. Loved the books, but didn't really get Corwin.

For my special needs dog Simone, I made up a particular song I often sang to her when we were snuggling and happy.
When she was at the vet that final time, I sang that song into her ear.

Yeah, complacency helped the Weimar Republic fend off its own Nazi takeover. Unfortunately for you guys, we're watching.

98 years in prison? Why is this act many times worse than trying to overthrow the lawfully elected government?

I write down a lot of stuff. But I'm plagued by people asking me to recall it off the top of my head. I tell them "Just a moment, I have notes," and the invariable answer is, "Oh no, don't bother, just off the top of your head/whatever you remember."
The idiots never seem aware that I write things down specifically so that I don't have to carry them around in my head constantly.

Well sure, but I'm dubious that scientific results will calm down a panicky first-time parent who thinks their child might have swallowed something.

Why can't they at least use each individual separately at the $350,000 cap? At least that would hurt them more.

"In a statement, Andis said Edwards was hired earlier this month and was in the process of being assigned to the patrol division. Edwards resigned from Virginia State Police on October 28, a spokesperson for the agency said.
The spokesperson declined to provide additional details, citing a state law that bars authorities from releasing anything beyond a resignation date."
So cop resigns for a reason the authorities don't allow us to know, moves to the other side of the country, and is immediately rehired as a cop. Proceeds to murder and abduct.
Wonder just what it was that prompted his initial resignation?
If this pattern seems familiar, replace "cop" with "priest" and you'll realize why.

Reply to comment by mrgtiguy in NASA leaders recently viewed footage of an underwater dive off the East coast of Florida, and they confirm it depicts an artifact from the space shuttle Challenger by marketrent
It wasn't just pressure to launch a teacher. Part of the arguments NASA had made to secure funding for the shuttle program had hinged on the claim they could launch on reliable schedules. The military wanted more funding for unmanned rockets to launch satellites, but NASA had prevailed in Congress partly by asserting that the shuttles could put military hardware into space, replacing the need for more or newer unmanned boosters. The military was dubious they could maintain tight schedules and launch on short notice.
NASA felt pressure to prove their program could get into space regularly with minimal delays/cancellations in order to justify the spending and prove the military "wrong."

This. At some point somebody decided they'd rather have a little more money at the cost of reputation and clear communication. Many places regard copy editing as an unnecessary luxury.

Eh. The original core of the anti-abortion movement was morally against the taking of some human life at the expense of other human lives. But a sizable proportion of the people repeating it now are just in it to own the libs and beat their chests about their side winning, and have no moral introspection at all.
